Allright everyone?

I can't claim any great credit for this, I have just assembled it in a way that I think makes more sense than most of the tabs and instruction out there at present. It won't sound 100% identical to Coldplay's version, but its close enough to impress your lady friends (or men freinds :wink: )

Slap a capo on the 1st fret to play along to the Cd. Or if you are not blessed with a Chris Martin type voice, slap it anywhere that allows you to sing it in an ok sounding way! And last thing, try not to hit that high E string, you don't need it at all for this. If you can't cope with the finger picking, it won't sound as good strummed, but you'll cope with a D D D/u/d pattern. Concentrate on the bass notes if strumming, and don't hit the high E either if you can avoid it.

Picking pattern
Basically a repeating series of picked arepeggio notes, with the first beat accentuated by pinching the bass note as well. I have shown this in ( ) but if you miss it, it won't really notice. I have split this into 2 main patterns, the verse and chorus (the same) and the bridge bit. Practice it nice and slow to get the feel for it, its better to get it right, and then speed up, than try to play it at tempo and mess it up. You will find that because its quite a repetitive pattern, your fingers soon get into the rhythm of it.

And that's pretty much it. This would be a good intro to finger picking in my opinion - getting the fingers used to staying on one string and making use of the bass on the first beat.

Like Coldplay a lot but again don't have any of their CD's. I'm sure if I heard the song I'd know it though. (Guess its down to the HMV sales again!)

When I do hear it I'll be sure to look this up and try it out.

Great Tab.. Actually the one from Play Guitar Magazine was done by the band supposedly.. is this one based off of that?

I wanna Rock N Roll all night... Ahh who am I kidding I'll be in bed at 9 pm....

Thanks for this, I'm having a lot of fun with it. It's surprising that, although it's so simple and repetitive, you can spend quite a long time on it. It is a driving relentless tune though.

It also doubles as a nice warm up for finger picking :D

Yeah, it was based on the guitar magazine, well off their website actually. But it was a bit vague, it didn't tie the lyrics to the tab at all.

Glad you've enjoyed it.

All i have to do now is learn how to sing it :cry:

wow thats simple, i'd never even tried to play without a plectrum before but after half an hours work ive got this song down. Fantastic tab, im now inspired to move beyond simple power chords and into the wide realm of arpeggios. Cheers!

and i dont even like coldplay....:D
