Come Together- The Beatles

This song goes out to Rod (Rodders). He saw that I played this song and requested a tab.

On the Abbey Road album this song is recorded in the key of D. Years ago I saw John Lennon play this song in the key of E on TV. Myself, I prefer the key of E. It is very "user friendly", and sounds heavier as well.

This song is not note for note but will get you close. The C#5, B5, and A5 chords can all be played on the A, D, and G strings, but I prefer to play them on the top bass strings. I just like my chords to have a heavier tone. But that is just me, play them as you wish.

This song also has something almost unknown to many musicians today.... A REST. At the end of each verse rest for 8 whole beats! Yep, don't play anything. Just tap your foot to keep time.

Anyway, this song is super simple, hope you enjoy it.

This is the riff that opens the song and is played between each
verse. I have tried to give a sense of the timing by spacing.
Make a long slide up to the B note on the E string. Sustain the G note on the D string and give it some nice vibrato. Skipping strings is a nice effect used in Blues often.

Now the verses begin with a Blues “shuffle” in E and B.

Hi Wes, yep I was right a very good job !!
I've tried the stretch on the C#5/B and can just about manage it.
Is this the one you meant when you were talking about substituting
C#5/B

I learned this by playing along with the record - for yhe intro, first chord I use is a Dm - barred at the fifth fret, then A at the fifth....slide it up to a Cat the eighth, making sure I sound the Bb and B on the way, then F at the eighth....I repeat that, but the second time I add an Fsus2 at the end of the riff....

then F again, then into the main riff - I play it the same shuffle as Wes, but play D at the 5th fret, A at the fifth, Bm at the 7th and G at the 3rd.....

Too tired to tab it out now - been a long day! - but I'll have a go at it tomorrow if anyone's bothered.....

Sorry to take so long to get back. But yes, you play the C#5/B on the chorus only when you are decending from the C#5 chord down to the A5 chord. Yeah, it's a stretch. But that is the proper chord to use there.

Musenfreund, I really can't remember which show it was. This was back when John was still alive. But he was playing it just as I've tabbed here, this is how I learned the song from watching him play it.

I will try to get a recording of this and learn the solo. It is really very easy. If I am not wrong, I believe Eric Clapton played the solo on this song and Billy Preston played the keyboards. But the solo was played with the D Minor Pentatonic scale on the Abbey Road recording. So this would have to be moved up a full step for the song in E.
