David Bowie - Sorrow.

Originally done by the Merseybeats (I think!) this was on Bowie's "covers" album - Pin Ups - a very under-rated album,
in my opinion. Not much to it, and it's ridiculously easy....
The intro consists of a G chord strummed a few times....the (G) before "long" is where the 5th bar is - there are four bars
of G to each couplet, two bars of C, then two further bars of G....

Intro........G/G/G/G

With your (G)long blonde hair and your eyes of blue,
The only thing I ever got from you was (C)sorrow, (G)sorrow,

You (G)acted funny, trying to spend my money,
You're out there playing your high class games of (C)sorrow, (G)sorrow,

You (G)never do what you know you oughta,
Something tells me you're the devil's daughter, (C)sorrow, (G)sorrow,

(D)ah, (C)aah, (G)aah. (two bars of each chord)

(The sax solo comes here....guitar plays four bars of G, two of C, two of G....)

I (G)tried to find her 'cause I can't resist her,
I never knew just how much I missed her, (C)sorrow, (G)sorrow,

With your (G)long blonde hair and your eyes of blue,
The only thing I ever got from you was (C)sorrow, (G)sorrow,

(D)oooh, (C)ooh, (G)ooh. (again, two bars of each chord...)

(G)With your (F)long blonde hair, I couldn't (G)sleep last night,
(G)With your (F)long blonde hair........

The record fades out strumming the G chord a few times, but you could always play say four bars of F, then finish on a G chord....

:D :D :D

I'm finding it hard to keep up these days, what with all the new posts here.

Well Vic, this couldn't be any easier. Just had a quick run through it and nailed it first time.

A good job, well done.

Rod.

P.S. What would be the chords if you were to drop the key to F ?

if you dropped the key to F....

G would become F, C would become Bb, F would become Eb and D would become C....if you put a capo on the first fret, however, G would become E, C would become A, F would become D and D would become B and you'd still be in the key of F....

Mmmmm Eb..... Thats a real bummer of a chord. Easy enough on the 6th fret but I think that would be too high a note and the only way I know how to play Eb open is

XX1043 or XX1343 and my fingers just can't do that yet.

Me thinks I shall keep it in your original key.

Thanks Vic.

I worded that badly Rodders.....

What I meant to get across was, with a capo on the first fret, the chords you'd play would be:

E instead of the original G
A instead of the original C
B instead of the original D and
D instead of the original F.

Because of the capo, E=F, A=Bb, B=C and D=Eb......

OR - with a capo on 3rd fret, the chords you'd play would be:

D instead of the original G
G instead of the original C
A instead of the original D and
C instead of the original F......even easier!

Because of the capo, D=F, G=Bb, A=C and C=Eb......

hope that's clearer!!!

Amira, I'll try and add a strumming pattern tomorrow....got sidetracked today!!!
