Hi folks
Anyone know where I can get hold of some decent folk music? Most of the sites seem to think that us folkies are either obsessed with sitting around a camp-fire singing "Kumbayah" or some Bob Dylan classic. I am on the look-out for UK based traditional folk songs/ tunes either as chords or as tab (gone past caring I am that desperate!). I know there are a few sites that offer sheet music in abc format but in truth I just would like a couple of songs I can fool around with and have some fun rather than having to sit there working it all out.
I know there are a couple of Eric Bogle and Christy Moore songs on Chordie but that would seem to be it.
Oh and if anyone knows the chords to "The Creggan White Hare" - I will have your babies!!! :lol:

A really good way to find it is to go to some tinwhistle sites. They generally will have a guitar link.

You could always try modifying folk-rock to your tastes, look up the chords for Steeleye Span, or Fairport Convention?

Racetruck - if you like the Chieftians have a listen to Altan. I think they are smoother and less commercial.

Solas is another good band to give a listen to. The CHieftains are really cool when they do a show. If you get there when they are doing the soundcheck, Paddy Maloney will talk to you and pick 3 reels to do as the finale, then at the end of the show they call up any local musicians who showed up for the soundcheck to play the finale with them. And if you happen to live in Denver you can go to McNaulty's after the show and have a pint or 2 with the band :wink:
