anybody got a decent tab for "If you could read my mind"?

I've checked out tabs on the internet and most of them don't sound right to me

Ovation,

I have a book with Lightfoot songs. Their version is the same as on the http://www.lightfoot.ca website. When you play the G, you only play the 3rd fret/low E. You mute the A string and the rest are open.The Gadd9 is the same, except you play the B string/second fret. For the Dm6/F, you also mute the fifth string. The only other nuance is on the G/B you don't play the high e. My book shows the Am7 as an A7sus(D string second fret, B string 3rd fret).

Sorry I don't have the tab, but between the two it should work. I strum the song, but the book also shows the finger picking(Bass, B, G, D, B, G, D, G all quarter notes). Capo on 2nd fret.

Hi, would anyone be willing to record the acoustic guitar parts for "if you could read my mind" and send them to me.

I would love to track the vocal and have the lone guitar parts to learn.

Thanks you.

I just can't seem to pick it up, the stumming pattern that is .... anyone have any suggestions?

Writing out timing is not one of my strong points, but the rhythm is close to this:

1 e & a 2 e & a 3 e & a 4 e & a

/ / / / / / / / / /

d d u d u d d u d u
* *

d= downstroke
u= upstroke
*= put stress or accent on this strum

Hope this gets you close.

Just stumbling through, I found this thread. The rhythm for Sundown has been bugging me too. I can get it to sound pretty decent, especially on the 12 string, but my pattern is not consistent.

What do the 'e' and 'a' stand for in this example?

It is difficult to answer when one does not understand the question.

What do the 'e' and 'a' stand for in this example?

It's part of the count for sixteenth notes.
Say these out loud while tapping your foot. Make sure the numbers land on the taps.

Quarter notes
"1-2-3-4"

Eighth notes
"1-and-2-and-3-and-4-and" (often written as "1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &" )

Sixteenth notes
"1-e-and-a-2-e-and-a-3-e-and-a-4-e-and-a"

I wrapped a newspaper ’round my head
So I looked like I was deep

I can pretty much guarantee that you weren't the only one wondering the same thing. (I mean your first question :wink: )

Nothing ventured, nothing gained. :wink: I have no trepidation about posting what could be considered "no-brainer" questions, because I have yet to see a snotty answer about anything. I feel very comfortable, and very much a part of the community here. It's the best. :D
