Here's another classic which I feel ought to be here. Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now".
Verse: I c[D]an see cle[G]arly now the ra[D]in has gone,
I can see a[G]ll obstacles in my w[A]ay
Go[D]ne are the da[G]rk clouds that had me bli[D]nd
It's [C]gonna be a [G]bright, bright sunshiney d[D]ay
It's [C]gonna be a [G]bright, bright sunshiney [D]day

I th[D]ink I can ma[G]ke it now the pain has go[D]ne
All of the b[G]ad feelings have disap[A]peared
Here is that rain[G]bow I've been prayin' f[D]or
It's [C]gonna be a [G]bright, bright sunshiney [D]day

Bridge: Lo[F]ok all around, there's nothing but blue s[C]ky
Lo[F]ok straight ahead, nothing but blue s[A]ky... [C#m] [G] [C#m] [G] [C] [Bm] [A]

I c[D]an see cle[G]arly now the ra[D]in has gone,
I can see a[G]ll obstacles in my w[A]ay
Go[D]ne are the da[G]rk clouds that had me bli[D]nd
It's [C]gonna be a [G]bright, bright sunshiney [D]day
It's [C]gonna be a [G]bright, bright sunshiney [D]day

I hope you can still make it out, even though I can't seem to get the lines to line up one over the other.

Further edit- thanks to Laz, who pointed out that I had the chorus timing incorrect- probably something to do with the fact that I worked it out, and posted it in quick succession, and also pointed out that I'd missed out the "back half" of the bridge. Now it's been fixed.

Take care,

Casey

Great song. Very easy. I like that on a cold weekend. Thanks.

Great song, I've always loved this since it came out. Funnily enough, I'd never played it - until Laz suggested it at the 2nd Merseyside jam! As Laura said, "We played 'Stormy Monday' and it rained; we played 'I Can See Clearly Now' and the sun came out!

I think your chord changes are still a little out, though; I've tried playing along with it on THIS youtube version and I think it's more like this......

[D]I can see [G]clearly now the [D]rain has gone,
I can see [G]all obstacles [A]in my way,
[D]Gone are the [G]dark clouds that [D]had me blind
It's gonna be a [C]bright, [G]bright sunshiny [D]day,
It's gonna be a [C]bright, [G]bright sunshiny [D]day.

[D]I think I can [G]make it now the [D]pain has gone,
All of the [G]bad feelings have [A]disappeared,
[D]Here is that [G]rainbow I've been [D]prayin' for,
It's gonna be a [C]bright, [G]bright sunshiny [D]day,
It's gonna be a [C]bright, [G]bright sunshiny [D]day.

[F]Look all around, there's nothing but [C]blue sky,
[F]Look straight ahead, nothing but [A]blue sky... [C#m] [G] [C#m] [G] [C] [Bm] [A]

[D]I can see [G]clearly now the [D]rain has gone,
I can see [G]all obstacles [A]in my way,
[D]Gone are the [G]dark clouds that [D]had me blind,
It's gonna be a [C]bright, [G]bright sunshiny [D]day,
It's gonna be a [C]bright, [G]bright sunshiny [D]day.

Try it like this, let me know what you think.

:D :D :D

The bridge is one of the hardest parts to work out, especially the C#m - G - etc., part after the singing or during the "aaaahhhhh" is you prefer. If you play the F in the second line as a barre chord, you can also "step" up to the A by playing a G barre chord on the "but" before "blue sky:"

[F]Look all around, there's nothing but [C]blue sky,
[F]Look straight ahead, nothing [G] but [A]blue sky... [C#m] [G] [C#m] [G] [C] [Bm] [A]

Using the A barre chord (577655) also puts you in great position to play C#m (x46654) and G as barre chords. You can also use C#m7 and that should sound fine as well.

Great song. Fun to play.

Peace
