This is a really nice song to strum away to on an acoustic guitar. Drunken friends seem to like singing along to it
Its sounds ok with easy versions of F or if you are up to a full barre F you can then slide that to the third fret for the barred G.
Playing the Em with your 4th and 5th fingers will make it easier to cange to a barre F chord

The (C)silicon chip in(Em)side her head
Gets (F)switched to over(G)load
And (C)nobody's gonna go to (Em)school today
She's gonna (F)make them stay at (G)home
And (F)daddy doesn't under(G)stand it
He always (C)said she was good as (F)gold
And he can (F)see no reasons
'Cos there (F)are no reasons
What (F)reason do you need to be (G)show-ow-(G)ow-ow-own?

Tell me (C)why
I don't like (Em)Mondays
Tell me (F)why
I don't like (G)Mondays
Tell me (C)why
I don't like (Em)Mondays
I wanna (F)shoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-(G)oot the whole day (C)down

The song plays well enough with a simple DDUUDU pattern with some emphasis on the first down strum

Please note this version is not in the same key as the original so you wont be able to play along to the cd with it. Capo the guitar as required to suit your drunken friends singing voices

There are too many songs that have an 'F' chord in them.

Takes me back to sharing a room with my brother and he was always playing Tonic for the troops and the fine art of surfacing on an old cassette recorder. The frightning aspect is that these songs are going on 30 years old!

Ive no idea what the original chords were but this is a really nice easy version but still keeping the feel of the song. Sliding from F to G works really well.

Any thoughts on chords for the section "the playing stopped in the playground"

I just repeat the chord sequence for the first verse, seems to work okay for me. :)
