Alright, that was the intro. Not nearly as hard as it looks.
Ron Wood played this with a Funk style. Very cool. Hopefully the
spacing will give you an idea of the timing.

If I had to pick one of the 3 guitar parts to play, this would be it.
It sounds awesome with a little overdrive. Make sure to let the open
D string ring out and sustain. This is just D, F/D, G/D, F/D played
over and over again.

Maybe you can see why I would pick Guitar 1. With Guitar 2 you cannot
let the open D string ring, which gives the F and G chords a
very jazzy sound.

I just had a few minutes to try this unamplifed a few minutes ago.
Can't wait to plug in later this afternoon.
Saw a picture in the paper the other day where Ron Wood got on stage
at a Rod Stewart concert in LA for 5 numbers.
Unfortunately for the audience this wasn't one of them .
It is one of my favourites by them.
They are one of the first bands I ever photographed also.

funnily enough, I never heard the faces version of this till a few years ago......was it the Temptations who did the original? I know it was a Motown band.....

The only part that gives me trouble is near the end of the intro
where he goes to the 14th and 12th frets muting the b string
But the night is young.
Muting strings used to intimidate me till your Long Cool Woman tab.

Vic,you were right the original was by the Temptations.
Motown had so many great songs that were covered sucessessfly.

Just hold the 3rd and 4th strings with a little mini-barre with the tip of your index finger. Then let your index finger slightly touch the 2nd string muting it. I use my pinky for the 1st string.
I'm glad you like the tab. I'll try to add more to it over the long weekend.
I always loved this song myself, especially the drum solo at the end and the guitar that comes in there.
Just about all the guitar at the end of the song is just a variation on the same chords you play in the into.

On second thought, I believe that is a mistake. That note on the 1st string should be a G at the 15th fret. I'll check when I get home tonight and correct if it is wrong.

I tried 15 also before I wrote the message.
That would make it a G instead of a F# which I guess makes sense
but since rules are made to broken I wanted to be sure it wasn't the way I was playing it.
Having company this weekend and won't be able to play as much as I would like unless it really late.
It is a holiday weekend for us.
