My nomination for the easiest song in the world. (Yes, even easier than "Horse With no Name") You don't even have to move your fingers that much from D to A7. We'll even throw in one G just to break the monotony... :D
Straight up and down strumming pattern sounds great.
Probably not that interesting to some of us, but to a raw beginner, it's nice to have one thing you can play to make you feel like you are making progress.

Enjoy.

IN THE SUMMERTIME (You Don't Want My Love)
Words and music by Roger Miller

CAPO: 2nd Fret/KEY: E/PLAY: D
[D] In the summertime, when all the trees and leaves are green
And the redbird sings, I'll be [A7] blue
'Cause you don't want my [D] love ...
Some other time, that's what you say, when I want you
Then you laugh at me and make me [A7] cry
'Cause you don't want my [D] love.

CHORUS
You don't [G] seem to care a thing about me
You'd rather live without me, than to [D] have my arms around you
When the nights are cold and you're so all a-[A7] lone ...
In the [D] summertime, when all the trees and leaves are green
And the redbird sings, I'll be [A7] blue
'Cause you don't want my [D] love.

[D] Once upon a time, you used to smile and wave to me
And walk with me, but now you [A7] don't
You don't want my [D] love ...
Some other guy is takin' up all your time
Now you don't have time for [A7] me
You don't want my [D] love.

CHORUS

John A.

They say only a pawnshop guitar can play the blues. An eBay one does it better. A guitar's bound to feel unloved if her owner plasters pictures of her over the internet for all to see and then sells her off to the highest anonymous bidder.
