Hi again everyone. I never really got into the Nirvana scene at the time, but having had another listen to Unplugged in New York, it struck me that quite a few songs on that album would fit well on this forum.
Chris (Dogsbody) I don't know if you like Nirvana, but if the jury's out, go and get this album and have a listen, its good and some simple stuff that sounds nice electric or acoustic.
So here's my first offering off that album, its a cover of a song by a band called the Vaseline's (so Mr Cobain says anyway!). I hope you like it.

E5 - 022x00 (form an E but just rest on the G string to mute it, don't press hard enough to sound it)

Strumming.
Keep a nice regular Down Down Up/Down/Up going, counted One , Two, Three and Four and you'll be just fine. Once you've got it down you might want to play around a little, but it sounds like the majority of the song is played this way.
Timing
Its all 4 beats to a chord EXCEPT the "A" at the end of the lines - this is played as 4 beats of A, followed by 2 beats of Asus4, and 2 beats of A. Here's an example tab to explain what i mean. Just form your regular A chord, and add your pinky on the B string 3rd fret (or however you personally do that chord - some people do it differently).

It is. So are "Molly's Lips" and "Son of a Gun". All can be found online. They are not really very different musically. (as in Nirvana doesn't go out of their way to make it sound different) Maybe a little bit happier. :)
Thanks for posting your arrangement. Who knows.. maybe I'll give it a shot. It wouldn't kill me to learn a complete song for a change.

I agree with you its very frustrating when you put the time in to type out these offerings, it goes wrong for me too, even when I code it.
Anyway,
My "Son number one" is a big Nirvana fan so I'll try and borrow one of his CD's to take a listen.
When he was living at home I used to hear Nirvana coming from his room but I never really listened, that'll teach me.

If your gonna borrow a CD from your son make sure its the MTV Unplugged in New York because that is the album that this acoustic number is from. Their other albums are a bit rougher, heh.
I'm gonna have to try it when I get home because I fiddled with it before but only used Em > D > A but this tab looks much better :)
