A true legend, icon, and outlaw. One of my heros. This song is played slow, and the lyrics are half sung/spoken. If you need to hear it you can find this song on his Too Dumb For New York City, Too Ugly for L.A. disc.

Disclaimer: I did the chords this way as it's late, I'm tired, and I'm not inclined at the moment to pretty it all up. :P Hope you enjoy this one.

*********** HANK WILLIAMS SYNDROME **********

written and performed by Waylon Jennings

Verse 1:
(E)Ramblin' about
Down through the South
I (A)find things are a changing a (E)lot
Especially me It's easy to see
Mo(A)ntgomery's still hot,and i'm (E)not

Verse 2:

(E)I stopped by today
At Hank Williams's grave
My (A)hero from the days of my (E)youth
Was that him or me That i used to be
In the (A)times when i searched for the (B)truth

Chorus:
(A)Hank you were my inspir(E)ation
And I was obsessed with your (A)ways
But to tell you the truth
It's (E)no thanks to you
That i'm still living (B)today
(A)Hank i still love your (E)music
And in spite of the things i've just (A)said
You'll always be A (E)hero to me
But the (D)Hank Williams (A)syndrome is (E)dead

Verse 3:

(E)The new hats are here
And it's increasingly clear
Our (A)day is slipping on (E)by
They're not like me and you
But that's alright,too
They (A)could keep the music (B)alive

Chorus again then fade.

Strumming pattern is : Pick the bass note and strum the rest of the chord. 3/4 time. I usually use D/DUDU

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- "WOW--What a Ride!"
