Obviously too much time at my hands... its friday night, and what am I doing? trying to learn Norah Jones' Creepin in. Heard it the car this afternoon and just decided that I had to try it.

Well the chords are pretty straight forward - 4 of them. It is originally in Bb so you'll need lots of barre chords. Slam a capo on 3rd fret and play G for Bb, C for Eb, D for F and em for gm if barre chords annoys you.

Intro: Bb

Bb
There's a big ol' hole
Eb Bb
That's gone right through the sole
F
Of this old shoe
Bb
And the water on the ground
Eb
Ain't got no place else it found
Bb F Bb
So it's only got one thing left to do

F Eb Bb
Creep on in
F Eb Bb
Creep on in
F Gm
And once it has begun
Bb F Eb
Won't stop until it's done
Bb
Sneaking in

There's a silver moon
That came just a little soon
For me to bare
Shines brightly on my bed
And the shadows overhead
Won't let me sleep as long as they're there

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once it has begun
Won't stop until it's done
Sneaking in

There's a big ol' hole
That goes right through my soul
And that ain't nothin' new
So long as you're around
And got no place else you've found
There's only one thing left to do

Creep on in
Creep on in
And once you have begun
Don't stop until you're done
Sneaking in

Now for the really fun part: intro and solo. I don't know if'll ever manage to play this good and a tempo - it will probably end up in the 'practice drawer' together with a bunch of other songs I should have learned - but I think I've realised how its done at least.

The intro over a Bb chord, just play a Db (6th fret on 3rd string) pull fast off to the fifth fret and then to the 3rd fret:

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
---6p5p3----6p5p3------------------------------
------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------

And then when I was looking at the solo, I remember someone requested mp3 clips the other day, so I thought: why not make a video. Quality is crappy and I didn't bother to plug in my guitar so sound is even worse, and in addition I have been practicing the song for about 5 minutes in total. I don't have the slightest clue about video editing either so the files are HUGE, but you may just get an idea... I thought it was cool to (probably(?)) be the first in ESD with video included :-)

First the start of the solo after the second verse - see video 1: http://home.online.no/~carolbo/musikk/video1.MPG

----------------------------------------
----6------65------54-----------------
----7------76------65------3-3-3---3--
--------8--------8-------3-5-------5----
------8--------8------------------------
----------------------------------------
repeat

Now for the next part you have to find the longest fingers you've got - its bit of a stretch to say the least - pull of from the 7th to the 3rd fret - but I'm pretty sure this is how it's done - happy to be corrected tho' ;)

see video 2 http://home.online.no/~carolbo/musikk/video2.MPG

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
-7-7p3----7-7p3----7-7p3----7-7p3----
-------3--------3--------3--------3--
-------------------------------------

-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
-6-6p3----6-6p3----6-6p3----6-6p3----
-------3--------3--------3--------3--
-------------------------------------

----------------------------6-8-6----
----6-8-6---------------6-8-------8--
--7-------7--5--------7--------------
----------------8-5-8----------------
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------etc...

Have fun

Hey Lars, I can't believe you haven't had a reply to this one yet, so let me be the first to congratulate you on a splendid job.
I don't know the song at all, but I do really like the intro to the solo and you are right about the stretch from the 7th to the 3rd. I tried it this way and found it much easier.
E:----------------------------------------
B:----------------------------------------
G:----------------------------------------
D:---7--7-------7--7--------7--7----------
A:--------8----------8-----------8--------etc. etc. etc
E:----------8----------8-----------8------

Its exactly the same notes without the stretching. Try it and see what you think.

Rod.

Thanks Rod -

I kinda assumed this was well known elsewhere - she was pretty big here in Norway with a lot of radio time a few years back - I would urge everybody to check it out - amazon should have small pieces of the songs to listen to. - yep, here http://www.amazon.co.uk/Feels-Like-Home-Norah-Jones/dp/B000184C8M/sr=1-1/qid=1163368086/ref=sr_1_1/202-6226938-0482248?ie=UTF8&s=music

Anyway - I've put up the solo, and hope nobody will sue me for it

 think it has to be done by pull-offs ... or?
