Ok, here's one of the great songs. Quite easy to play actually, unless you're gonna solo like a madman of course. The solos are too difficult for me to tab so if anyone's interested in writing them up, please do!
Anyways here it is:Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Verse:
Bm A
Hello, is there anybody in there?
G Em Bm
Just nod if you can hear me, is there anyone at home?
Bm A
Come on now, I hear you're feeling down,
G Em Bm
Well, I can ease the pain, and get you on your feet again.
Bm A G Em
Relax, I need some information first, just the basic facts,
Bm
Can you show me where it hurts.
Chorus:
D A
There is no pain you are receding.
D A
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
C G
You are only coming through in waves,
C G
Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying.
D A
When I was a child, I had a fever,
D A
My hans felt just like two balloons,
C G
Now I've got that feeling once again,
C
I can't explain, you wouldn't understand,
G
This is not how I am,
A C G D
I _____ have become comfortably numb.
Solo 1. Over these chords:
D A D A C G C G
A C G D
I _____ have become comfortably numb.
Verse:
Bm A G Em
Ok, just a little pin prick, there'll be no more [ahahaa],
Bm
But you may feel a little sick. Can you stand up?
Bm A G Em
I do believe its working, good. That'll keep you going through the show.
Bm
Common its time to go.
Chorus:
D A
There is no pain you are receding.
D A
A distant ships smoke on the horizon.
C G
You are only coming through in waves,
C G
Your lips move, but I can't hear what you're saying.
D A
When I was a child, I cought a fleeting glimpse,
D A
Out of the corner of my eye,
C G
I turned to look but it was gone,
C
I cannot put my finger on it now.
G
The child is grown, the dream is gone,
A C G D
And I _____ have become comfortably numb.
Solo 2
Thanks for posting this! I have been playing around with it and I think that an overdriven electric guitar seems to sound wonderful for those chords!

Thanks yashimacat.
I just found a lesson by David Hodge on walking bass lines where he uses this song as an example.

Cool, thanks. I've been working on the solo's, got the first one down pretty good, still lots of work to do on the second one. I've been looking for a descent version of the rhythm.
Rock on!
:D wow this was actually an easy song ... how easy? Easy enough that I made a video in time for any of you aspiring life-of-the-party types lol to learn for the holidays ...
I am throwing in some basic barre (or at least as much as my stubby little fingers will let me) chords, mostly barre A for when my ear is telling me to go UP from D ... and also I do a little segue at the start with A minor barre to B minor barre (which I think is what it does on the recording  ) before going into the first Bm of the verse. Solo needs work obviously  but definitely feel like I'm challenging my acoustic limits 8)
What if the Hokey Pokey IS what it's really all about?
~ why yes, I am available on youtube ~

I think the song Mother should be on this index too.
Hi I'm a newbie, can this song be played on an acoustic? and would sound alright? apart from the solo of course.
Thanks Daza.
Actually this song has a little D chord with the bass at F# ( F#/D is it ? ) in between G and Em but thats optional, sounds better with that though ^_^ and its a smooth transition

That's the way I always play it, too - 200232. It's a D chord - the F# note on the bottom E string, and the A note on the open 5th string, are essential notes in a D chord. D is the root, F# the third, and A the fifth notes in the scale of D major. Usually, when you see a D chord tabbed this way (200232) it's written D/F# to denote that the lowest note played (F#) isn't the root (D) of the chord - they're generally referred to as "slash chords."

Yep but in normal D chords you do the F# at the high E string and the A somewhere else ( 3rd string ) as to leave the D as the bass note, but I think it sounds better with the added F# and A, and for that song that litle D/F# is like a little detail that just makes the song better, way better.

Thanks, can't really seem to find a strumming pattern that works well with this song... my rhythm skills are still in the beginner stages :(
