Does anyone have or know where to find tab / chord progressions for some irish drinking songs?

Is that music where the notes are all joined by slurs?

To be serious - have you tried usin google, hotbot, etc.?

For the most part, you'll need song titles or artist's names, though (especially for sites that have large archives. Very few try to categorise the tabs according to genre - and I'm not sure that "Irish drinking song" would be considered a genre. :D

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

:D Mainly looking for songs off the Clancy Brothers CD, titled oddly enough, Irish Drinking Songs.

I did some searches, but didn't come up with anything. I'll probably just end up listening to the tracks and finding something that works on my own. Wanted something to start off with though.

Have a look here:

http://nfldsongs.tripod.com/

These aren't categorized by addiction  but there are some songs you might like . Have a look for "Five Nights Drunk" or "Whiskey in the Jar" for example.

You may also find something here:

"Drunken Lullabies"

Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Five hundred years like Gelignite
Have blown us all to hell
What savior rests while on his cross we die
Forgotten freedom burns
Has the Shepard led his lambs astray
to the bigot and the gun

Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies

I watch and stare as Rosin`s eyes
Turn a darker shade of red
And the bullet with this sniper lie
In their bloody gutless cell
Must we starve on crumbs from long ago
Through these bars of men made steel
Is it a great or little thing we fought
Knelt the conscience blessed to kill

Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies

Ah, but maybe it`s the way you were taught
Or maybe it`s the way we fought
But a smile never grins without tears to begin
For each kiss is a cry we all lost
Though there is nothing left to gain
But for the banshee that stole the grave
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies

I sit in and dwell on faces past
Like memories seem to fade
No colour left but black and white
And soon will all turn grey
But may these shadows rise to walk again
With lessons truly learnt
When the blossom flowers in each our hearts
Shall beat a new found flame

Must it take a life for hateful eyes
To glisten once again
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies
Cause we find ourselves in the same old mess
Singin' drunken lullabies

NEW SONG COMING UP

Song: Irish Drinking Song
Originally Done By: Buck-O-Nine
Cover By: Flogging Molly

well i stumbled in at 2 a.m. all drunk and full of smoke
my wife said i have had enough, im sick, thats it, get out!
so i stumbled down to kellys pub across the edge of town
and i told the boys me story and we had another round

we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!
and if i see a pretty girl, ill sleep with her tonight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!

and mary mcgregor, she was a pretty whore
she'd always greet you with a smile and never lock her door
but on the day she died, all the men in town did weep
for mary mcgregor finally got some sleep

we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!
and if i see a pretty girl, ill sleep with her tonight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!

well i once loved a girl, a child im told
i gave her my heart and she gave me a cold
so now i sit standing here out in the pouring rain
ill stumble back to kellys pub and cry away me pain

we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!
and if i see a pretty girl, ill sleep with her tonight!
we'll drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink, and drink and fight!

Try this book out, it's called Mel Bay presents Songs of Ireland, it has many Irish drinking songs as well as traditional tunes.

ISBN 1-56222-113-2

Hope that helps. Also check out some traditional Irish shops, both in person and on the net. I found this book in a small "gift" shop on Cape Cod.

Good luck and happy drinking, I mean, playing!

It's not Irish! But you might have fun with One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer by George Thorogood. Just a suggestion.

I've got a lot of good ideas. Trouble is... most of them suck!

Do a search on Celtic Fake book on Amazon. It's a big FAT Hal Leonard book with tons of Irish folk and drinking songs.

I'm working out of it right now and if I had the software I'd tab out some of the stuff.

I always loved "Paddy's Sick Note" by the Dubliners....I know he sings it accapella, but it's prety easy to put chords to....if I remember correctly, C F and G are all you need.....

:) :) :)

NO, but I got a link to blind guy I meet this past summer that performs Irish drinking songs live in pubs in Texas and around the country. He performed three songs live at our mutual friend's wedding reception (thanks to me) and killed! I bought his live CD because it's exactly the type of music I've been wanting to play me self.

http://www.irishentertainment.net/index_files/page8.htm

Greatest blind guy ever to drink (GUINNESS) with ever... and funnier then sh*t too!

Guinness - "BRILLIANT" http://www.guinness.com/guinness/en_US/home/0,6657,12687267_125584,00.html

Listen to his tunes and play them for your own... it's not like he wrote them or nothin'. Plus they're very straight forward solo acoustic arrangements. I had him dialed in on one try and he sounded better live in person then he did on his Live CD. :D

Saint Paty's Day ain't far away, so tune your guitar and get ready to play!
Drinkin' songs is what we want to hear, so play one now and get on with the beer!

Does anyone have or know where to find tab / chord progressions for some irish drinking songs?

http://www.stagepass.com/instruction/books/browse_item_detail.hperl?instrument=guitar&cat=40&invnum=699265 shows a pretty decent Hal Leonard songbook in case you're having difiiculty finding "Mallory& McCall`s Irish Pub Songbook" -which is great, but rare- or don't care to drop $50 on Hal Leonard's Fake Book.

Slainte' Mha!!!

EDIT --> I found a copy of Mallory & McCalls Irish Pub Songbook at amazon.com: Search for IRISH PUB SONGBOOK and you'll find a copy. If you're looking for your first one, that book would be a great place to start.
