Intro chords:

(G) (G) (C) (C) (C) (C) (C) (G)
(G) (G) (C) (C) (G) (D) (C) (G)

Verse 1:

(G)If my words could glow with the glow of [C]sunshine
And my tunes were played on the harp un[G]strung
Would you hear my voice come through the [C]music?
Would you [G]hold it [D]near [C]as it were your [G]own?

Verse 2:
(G)It's a hand-me-down; the thoughts are [C]broken
Perhaps they're better left un[G]sung.
I don't know; don't really [C]care
[G]Let there be [D]songs [C]to fill the [G]air.

Chorus 1:

[Am]Ripple in still [D]water
Where there [G]is no pebble [C]tossed
Nor [A]wind to [D]blow

Verse 3:

(D)Reach out your [G]hand if your cup is [C]empty
If your cup is full, may it be a[G]gain
Let it be known there is a [C]fountain
[G]That was not [D]made [C]by the hand of [G]men

Verse 4:

(G)There is a road no simple [C]highway
Between the dawn and the dark of [G]night
And if you go no one may [C]guide you
[G]That path is [D]for [C]your steps a[G]lone

Chorus 1:

[Am]Ripple in still [D]water
Where there [G]is no pebble [C]tossed
Nor [A]wind to [D]blow

Verse 5:

(D)You must [G]choose to lead or [C]follow
But if you fall you fall [G]alone
And if you stand then who's to [C]guide you?
[G]If I knew the [D]way, [C]I would take you [G]home.

Verse 6:

(G) La dee da da da da da da da (C) da
Da da da da da da da da da (G) da
La da da da da da da da (C) da
(G)La da da (D) da (C) da da da (G) da

Here's a link on how to play it from a fun guy on youtube I found whilst looking for Brown Eyed Woman to see how it went. He does a lot of fancy hammer ons but it's just as beautiful straight strummed. A great song for those quiet moments at a jam or after a good evening out with friends.

Thanks for inspiring me Electrablue to practice my "dead" and enjoy it everyone,

I confess that I have been wanting to post a version of this song since I first saw this thred. And here it finally is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QE1Rt7O-Sk

The reason that it took over 3 months is, that while I will cheerfully ruin Metallica or Bon Jovi, the Dead have special status - not only in my heart, but in the hearts of many people I would not willingly offend...

But I take that risk  to bring you this version, from a Fake Book of Dead lol
... I am making up my own TAB mostly but the book adds F# and G7 as intro to the chorus, which I am playing like this: xxx322 (but playing 2-2-3 starting with the F#) then xxx001 (fingered in the same order)
Then I strum the Am of the chorus and play the top 3 strings in that same pattern: Ri- i- i - i - pple through (high G fingered with spare pinky) still (D chord) wa-ter (high G once more sliding up to xx0535). I have no idea what that last chord is supposed to be but have found it darn handy 8)

What if the Hokey Pokey IS what it's really all about?

~ why yes, I am available on youtube ~

Possibly a variation of D7 - you've got the D root, C, D again and A. A is the 5th and C the b7, so D7 (no3rd)...I think. Sounds nice!

:D :D :D

From this era are two of their best IMO albums. Both from 1970, Workingman's Dead and American Beauty. The music and words from these two albums are just plain incredible.

It is a small world for metal fanatics. I welcome you fellow musicians, especially the metalheads!

Hey many thanks for the tab to this Dead Classic, easily one of my favorite 100 Dead tunes. What I would dearly love is the tab for Box of Rain. It is even higher in my list of Dead favorites. Any help would be appreciated and practiced. I am an old Deadhead but a beginner guitarist so if you could tab real sloooooow, it would help.
