Del Shannon - Runaway
A really old rock'n'roll classic - first came out about 1960!!!
Nice simple chords, but if you want to play along with Del's version,
You'll need a capo on the first fret......
Intro.......
E|----------------------------|
B|----------------------------|
G|-------2-----------2-------|
D|-----2-----------2---------|
A|-0-0---------0-0----------|
E|---------0-3----------0-3-|
(Am)As I walk along I (G)wonder,
What went wrong with (F)our love,
A love that was so (E)strong...
(Am)And as I still walk on I (G)think of,
The things we've done to(F)gether,
While our hearts were (E)young....
(A)I'm a-walkin' in the rain,
(F#m)Tears are falling and I feel no pain,
(A)Wishin' you were here by me,
(F#m)To end this misery,
And I (A)wonder,
I why-why-why-why (F#m)wonder,
(A)Why,
Why-why-why-why-(F#m)why,
She ran away,
And I (D)wonder,
Where she will (E)stay,
My little (A)runaway,
A (D)run-run-run-run-runaway
Then there's an organ solo here.....then repeat from "I'm a-walkin' in the rain....."
Then repeat the last line of the chorus - and that's it!!!
Enjoy......

My, this brings back memories.... of playing 'air electric piano' to the solo :)

Hey Vic
A classic, I've started using a capo so I'll have a go at this one.
I remember this in Woollies too! and at the funfairs of my youth, usually pouring out from an old cratched 45 via knackered speakers on the dodgems pay booth

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
Del Shannon - Runaway
A really old rock'n'roll classic - first came out about 1960!!!
Nice simple chords, but if you want to play along with Del's version,
You'll need a capo on the first fret......I LOVE this song! Especially Bonnie Raitt's version (It's on 'The Bonnie Raitt Collection' and 'Sweet Forgiveness' CD's).
This version is a little different than the one you submitted.... no capo required! And there's not an intro for it!

"Don't wanna ride no shootin' star. Just wanna play on the rhythm guitar." Emmylou Harris, "Rhythm Guitar" from "The Ballad of Sally Rose"
See what you mean, there's an E7 there instead of an E......I just listened to the CD and wrote down what I heard........
Actually I think E instead of E7 gives it a slightly fuller sound.......
Anyway thanks for pointing that out........
Vic.

This is a great one. Now I have to figure out the solo... kind of an Am arpeggio with a bb 3rd...G7?.. I'll get it... just give me some time, haven't heard it in years.
Can someone post a strum pattern?
