John Lennon - Starting Over

This isn't the easiest of songs to play, more of an intermediate song - especially if you're not that good on barre chords - but I'm feeling in the mood for a lot of
Lennon songs today, on the 25th Anniversary of the great man's sad death.....this song was sliding down the charts, it'd gone from #7 to #15 - and then it went straight
back up to #1....

Starting Over - John Lennon

Chords.....

A A+ F#m E D Bm C#m F# G Am D7 Em

E 0 1 2 0 2 2 4 2 3 0 2 0
B 2 2 2 0 3 3 5 2 0 1 1 0
G 2 2 2 1 2 4 6 3 0 2 2 0
D 2 3 4 2 0 4 6 4 0 2 0 2
A 0 0 4 2 0 2 4 4 2 0 0 2
E 0 x 2 0 x 2 4 2 3 0 x 0

Our (A)life, to(A+)gether, is so (F#m)precious, to(A+)gether,
We have (A)grown, (E), we have (A)grow - oh - oh - (E)own,
Although our (A)love, is still (A+)precious, (F#m)(A)let's take a chance and fly a(D)way,
Some(E)where, a(A)lone.......

(E/E/E/E/E/E)

it's (A)been so long since we took the time,
No-(A+)one's to blame, I know time flies so (Bm)quickly,(Em)
(Bm)But when (E)I see you darling,
(C#m)It's like we (F#)both are falling,
In (Bm)love again,
It'll (E)be just like starting (A)over, (A+)starting (A)over,

Every (A)day we used to make it, love,
(A+)Why can't we be making love, nice and (Bm)easy,(Em)
It's (Bm)time to (E)spread our wings and (C#m)fly,
Won't let a(F#)nother day go (Bm)by my love,
It'll (E)be just like starting (A)over, (A+)starting (A)over,

Heavily strummed G chord here...something like

GGG GGG GGG GGG G.......

Why don't we take off a(Am)lone,(D7)
Take a trip somewhere so (G)far away,
(Em)Be together all a(Am)lone again,(D7)
Like we used to in the (G)early days,
(E)Well, well, (Esus4)dar(E)ling,

Our (A)life, to(A+)gether, is so (F#m)precious, to(A+)gether,
We have (A)grown, (E), we have (A)grow - oh - oh - (E)own,
Although our (A)love, is still (A+)precious, (F#m)(A)let's take a chance and fly a(D)way,
Some(E)where..................

(A)Oooh ah, (A+)ooh ah,
(A)Oooh ah, (A+)ooh ah,

Starting (A)over, (A+)starting (A)over.......

RIP John Lennon....and let's all take a minute to think of Yoko, Julian, Sean and Cynthia sometime today - those of us of a certain age, John touched ALL our lives, he was a genius, I know it's an overused word these days, but never in regard to John....thank you SOOOO much, John, for all the pleasure you gave me over the years....

Vic,

Great tribute to John. I'm sure he's smiling down on us all today watching us still enjoying his life's work & love. Good job!

Well done Vic, you have surpassed yourself with this one. Its gonna take me a while to get this all down, I'm not used to the A+ chord and it takes a bit of changing to and there are a couple of quick changes there Bm - Em, etc.
Is the G# on your C#m intentional or a missprint ?

Great song, a fitting tribute

Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!

Rodders, if you mean the G# bass note in the C#m chord, it's optional....I'm one of those people who likes to use all six strings wherever possible. I've been playing this for a long time, and sometimes I still muff the F#m to A+ chord change, but you could always substitute E7 - works nearly as well.

:D :D :D

Great song - thanks!

However

...a chance and fly a(D)way,
Some(dm)where, a(A)lone....

sounds more correct to me (dm rather than E in the "somewhere") - from memory only
Opinions?
