Finally! A nice easy fix for the Am7......
x05655

Um, that's an A7, isn't it?

Ummm - not in open D, DADF#AD. I'm not exactly sure what it is....notes are
x A G C D G - so it'd probably be something like Gsus4/9 even though there's an A in the bass....it sounds OK when I've tried it, though!

There's no 7th, so it would be more accurately Gsus4add9, I think.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Totally my mistake! Didn't go back early enough to read we were talking about being in open D. Sorry!

And with the A in the bass, Gsus4add9/A?
Seems a good substitute for the Am7, anyway. There's two other ways I've found of playing it in open D; one would be similar to the above, x05675, and the other is up at the 10th fret.....although going back, I think Nick suggested a different Am7.
Tricky playing a song all the way through, though, using 1 and 2 finger chords, then having to use all four fingers in an unfamiliar tuning!

A great two chord tune for getting real groove under your fingers is USE ME by Bill Withers. Eminor and A7.
