Well here's an oddity, very easy though!

Been trying to find songs from The Beatles Hamburg sessions with Tony Sheridan circa 1962 that I could learn. The CD of these sessions is available on Spectrum Records. Well worth buying, some great recordings are on it.

This one is a standard that Tony (No mean singer/guitarist in his own right) and the then "Silver Beatles" with Pete Best on drums rocked up and altered the lyrics to. To me it sounds great as most of those early sessions did.

Anyway I've listened to it many times and have managed to get the different lyrics down for the first verse but couldn't get the second verse so those are the original lyrics. If I get time I'll edit the post if I can de-cifer the second verse lyrics.

If you have a copy of the recording its quite easy to get the strum pattern, its straight rock & roll really!

So here it is:

Verse 1:

(N/C) Well let me tell you that…

(E)No chick made could be the same as Sweet Georgia Brown,

(A)crazy feet that dance so neat, has Sweet Georgia (A7)Brown.

(D)Fellas sigh and even cry for (D7)Sweet Georgia Brown,

(D7)I'll tell you (G)why, you know I don't (B7)lie.

(E)oh its been said she knocks em dead, in any old town,

(A)since she came why it's a shame (A7)how she brings 'em down.

(Em)In Liverpool(B7)she even dared to(Em)criticize (B7)the Beatles Hair,

(G)Well their whole fan club's (E)tattered there,

(A)Sweet (D)Georgia (G)Brown.

(Instrumental Break:) E A A7 D D7 G B7 E A A7 Em B7 Em B7 G E A D G

Verse 2:

(E)No gal made has got a shade on Sweet Georgia Brown,

(A)two left feet, but oh so neat, has Sweet Georgia (A7)Brown.

(D)They all sigh and wanna die for (D7)Sweet Georgia Brown,

(D7)I'll tell you (G)why, you know I don't (B7)lie, much.

(E)It's been said she knocks 'em dead, when she lands in town,

(A)since she came why it's a shame (A7)how she turns 'em down.

(Em)Fellers (B7)she can't get are (Em)fellers (B7)she ain't met,

(G)Georgia claimed her, Georgia (E)named her,

(A)Sweet (D)Georgia (G)Brown.

Hope you like it,

All the best

Chris

Going by the time you posted this, looks like your doing it from work again. (naughty naughty) or is it lunch break time ?

Cant say that I know this one Chris. Is it the same as the jazz classic as done by various artists such as Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald ?

I only go as far back as "Aint She Sweet"

Can't think of the tune for the life of me.

Any possibility of a sound byte ?????

See you soon,

Rod.

Yeah Rod it was lunchbreak.

Ain't She Sweet is on the same album. Yes this song is the very same as done by Louis and Ella.

I'll see if I can burn you a copy of the CD or convert this to an mp3.

Opps! should be working 10 minutes ago.

Over and out

Chris

I'm still having trouble spotting the difference between the real Rod and the animated avatars - give us a clue Chris?

Rodders, do you have iTunes in the UK? There are two different versions of this tune as done by the Beatles; you can listen to a 30-second sample to get a feel for the rhythm.

Nice one, Dogsbody.
