Ok, heres one that I have just gotten down pretty well. It's really pretty simple, and even the solo isnt too bad, but its a bit quick, so start slow with it. The tab below is somewhat from what I have figured out, and somewhat from tabs i have seen online. Here we go...

The main riff:

eb:---------------------------------
Bb:---5---7---x-x--7---8---10---9---
Gb:---5---7---x-x--7---7---9----9---
Db:---5---7---x-x--7---9---11---9---
Ab:---------------------------------
Eb:---------------------------------

Easy enough...i just barre the three strings with my index finger when all the notes are on the same fret, then use my middle and ring to play the rest.

Verse 1/2:

Natural harmonics
eb:-----------------------------------------------------5--
Bb:-----------------------------------------------------5--
Gb:---2---2------4-----2-----0----2---2------4-----2----5--
Db:---2---2------5-----4-----2----2---2------5-----4----5--
Ab:---0---0---0-----0-----0-------0---0---0-----0----------
Eb:-----3---------------------------3----------------------

The above is the main part of the first 2 verses. The natural harmonics my be played somewhere else on the neck, so feel free to let me know and i will correct it.

Verse 3:

Trill
eb:----------------------------------------------------------------
Bb:----------------------------------------------------------------
Gb:---2---2------4-----2-----0----2---2------4-----2----2h4p2h4p2--
Db:---2---2------5-----4-----2----2---2------5-----4---------------
Ab:---0---0---0-----0-----0-------0---0---0-----0------------------
Eb:-----3---------------------------3------------------------------

Same as 1/2 except for the trill at the end.

All verse endings:

eb:----------------------------------------------------0---
Bb:----------------------------------------------------0---
Gb:---2---2------4-----2-----0----2---2------4-----2---0---
Db:---2---2------5-----4-----2----2---2------5-----4---2---
Ab:---0---0---0-----0-----0-------0---0---0-----0------2---
Eb:-----3---------------------------3------------------0---

Just play that bit at the end of the above tabbed verse 1/2 and 3.

Solo:

eb:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bb:--------14-15-17-15-15p14-------14---------------12-13-15-13p12-------12-------
Gb:-----14-------------------14-------14---------12----------------12-------12----
Db:-/14-------------------------14-------14--/12----------------------12-------12-
Ab:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eb:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

eb:-----------------------------17-17b19-17b19-17--------------14-15-16-
Bb:--------14-15-17-15p14-------------------------12-12-12-12--15-16-17-
Gb:-----14----------------14--------------------------------------------
Db:-/14----------------------14-----------------------------------------
Ab:---------------------------------------------------------------------
Eb:---------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, it may not be very accurate, so feel free to throw out corrections. Best way to get it down is to slow the song down and play along to get the rythm of it, then speed it up. It gets pretty fast, but its very doable (if i can do it, anyone can!).

So, there you go. I'm sure there are a few mistakes (lots?), but im sure the better players on here can help fix it up to get it just right. Have fun! :)

Thanks for the great tab. I tried it out, sounds pretty accurate to me. I was never a real big fan of Van Halen, but I liked a few of their songs, and this was one of them. I have always liked the very colorful solo especially. I have no way of comparing it against the recording, but it sounds pretty close to what I remember.

So thanks again, good work.

This was the only Van Halen solo I could ever figured out myself & actually play it!

Good job on the tab.

Oh, and if I remember correctly, when VH started out playing in clubs, they used to blare a bunch of car horns at the start of thier set to get everyone's attention. The beggining to this song is a recording of car horns played backwards. 8)
