Here's an easy one - the same three chords all the way through.
Bm: X24432 (those not comfortable with barre chords could use another voicing of Bm: XX0432. It's sort of like holding a C chord)
A: X02220
E: 022100
It's the same chord progression throughout:
Bm(one bar) A(one bar) E(two bars)
Strumming pattern:
Well I haven't heard the song for years so I'm not sure :) I just strum a basic D DU UDU which works fine.
So here it goes:
Wicked Game - Chris Isaak
Intro:
Bm A E E (a couple of times)
Verse 1:
Bm
The World was on fire,
A E E
No one could save me but you.
Bm A E E
Strange what desire will make foolish people do.
Bm A E E
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you.
Bm A E E
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you.
Chorus:
Bm A E
No, I don't wanna fall in love.
E
(This love is only gonna break your heart)
Bm A E
No, I don't wanna fall in love.
E
(This love is only gonna break your heart)
Bm
With you.
A E E
Bm
With you.
A E E
Verse 2:
Bm A
What a wicked game you play
E E
To make me feel this way.
Bm A
What a wicked thing to do
E E
to let me dream of you.
Bm A
What a wicked thing to say
E E
you never felt this way.
Bm A
What a wicked thing to do
E E
to make me dream of you.
Chorus:
Bm A E
And I wanna fall in love.
E
(This love is only gonna break your heart)
Bm A E
No I wanna fall in love.
E
(This love is only gonna break your heart)
Bm
With you.
Solo
If you're in the right mood now's the time for a good, old melancholy
guitar solo - else just play the Bm A E progression a couple of times.
Verse 3: (same as verse 1)
The World was on fire,
No one could save me but you.
Strange what desire will make foolish people do.
I never dreamed that I'd meet somebody like you.
And I never dreamed that I'd lose somebody like you.
Chorus:
Bm A E
And I wanna fall in love.
E
(This love is only gonna break your heart)
Bm A E
No I wanna fall in love.
E
(This love is only gonna break your heart)
Bm A
With you.
E E
(This love is only gonna break your heart)
Outro:
Bm A E
Nobody loves no-one.
Well hope you try it.
Cheers, Elivs
Alternatively...for those who hate the dreaded Bm.....
Slap a capo on the 2nd fret, for the Bm use Am, for A play a G chord, and for the E play a D chord.....

Thanks Vic, nice easy alternative, both ways sound good.
Anyone know how to play the really wicked hook that starts this song, and carries on through it, particularly the capoed version?
Be interested, very!
All the best

Great song. I've been working on it in pieces over the past few weeks.
For the opening hook, it helps to have an electric guitar with a tremolo but I've been improvising for the acoustic.
Using trem arm...

I play it differently,

Dug this up from long ago.
A question though - if i use Vic's method capoed at 2 - will all the original fills fit played on an un-capoed guitar?
Need to know this urgently!!
Thanks
Matt
Elvis,
Nice tab. I always liked the chic in that video..too bad I can't sing like Chris Isaac though
"It's all about stickin it to the man!"
It's a long way to the top if you want to rock n roll!
Matt, when playing the capoed version your're playing the same chords as in the standard, so using a second guitar playing the standard fills must work. Just try it out and if it sounds good go for it.
BTW are you planning a gig?
cnev, i have to agree on that foxy lady in the video. She visited me regularly in my daydreams
No its not for a gig, just two of us playing together for fun.
Helena Chistenson, mmmmmmm VERY NICE....great video!
All the best
Matt
Great tab. Thanks. Took a break from my "Wish You Were Here" practice. I've got a Bm in another song I'm working on and this gives me some practice.
Now if I can only hold that "I..........." for 17 more sec. I'm set....

They say only a pawnshop guitar can play the blues. An eBay one does it better. A guitar's bound to feel unloved if her owner plasters pictures of her over the internet for all to see and then sells her off to the highest anonymous bidder.
What a wickedly beautiful song and sultry video!
Here's what I just worked out listening to the song in slow-mo. Be sure to hold that note immediately before the slide a little longer then one normally would when sliding to another note. Plus the slide itself is not super fast as you can easily hear all the notes as he passes each fret.
If you are playing it on an acoustic, you might choose to hit the note immediately before the slide a second time just prior to sliding.

Music "Theory"? "It's not just a theory, it's the way it is!"
Jonny T.
I came across this song on an acoustic specific tab site.
|------------| |-----------|
|------------|Fill 1 |-----------| Fill 2
|----2---1---| |----1-2-4--|
|--4---2-----| |--2--------|
|------------| |-----------|
|------------| |-----------|
For each verse Fill 1 goes at the end of the first line, Fill 2 at the end of the second line, Fill 1 after 3rd, Fill 2 after 4th and so on.
You can find the whole thing including the intro, here.
