Have another one,

This is a classic harmony song from Buddy, also performed once as a brilliant cover by The Beatles on their For Sale Album.

I found the strum pattern a bit tricky but struggled on for a few minutes then it clicked, especially if you keep listening to the song and trying to play along with it.
The strum goes something like this I think:

DuDu----D---DDD----uDu.

Oh heck! I find I can't even memorise the pattern as I'm playing it enough to write it down properly. And yet I know I'm playing it correctly cause it sounds right. I hope the above is near enough anyway.

Have a go and enjoy:

Intro: A D E A D E

Verse 1:

(A)Hold me close (D)and (E)tell me how you (A)feel (D)

(A)Tell me love is (A)real

(D)Mm-m (E)Mm-m (A)Mm-m (D)Mm-m (E)

Verse 2:

(A)Words of love (D)you (E)whisper soft and (A)true (D)

(E)Darling I love (A)you

(D)Mm-m (E)Mm-m (A)Mm-m (D)Mm-m (E)

Solo:

A D E A D E
A D E A D E
A D E A D E
A D E A D E

Verse 3:

(A)Let me hear you say (D)the (E)words I long to (A)hear (D)

(D)Darling when (E)you're (A)near

(D)Mm-m (E)Mm-m (A)Mm-m (D)Mm-m (E)

Repeat Verse 2:

(A)Words of love (D)you (E)Whisper soft and (A)true (D)

(E)Darling I love (A)you

(D)Mm-m (E)Mm-m (A)Mm-m (D)Mm-m (E)

Outro:

(A)Mm-m (D)Mm-m (E)

(A)Mm-m (D)Ah-h (E)

(A)Ah-h (D)Ah-h (E)

(A)Ah-h (D)Ah-h (E) and fade out

Best of luck with it guys,

Chris

I was looking at my original posting of this great song and I'm not surprised nobody replied. I'd tabbed it out pretty poorly at the time. Anyway, I've retabbed the song to improve it and make it clearer and added a sort of strum pattern.

It would probably be great for Vic Lewis and his mates on their Tuesday acoustic jam sessions

Hope it gets some interest going this time as it is a dead easy chord progression and once you've got that strum pattern it never leaves you.

LOL

DANG! Been only playing going on 2 months now and I'm fairly good at the A D and E chords. C's been a killer with my stumps though, still working on G. Anyway, what ever I'm doing, I always go back to some A D E pattern that I make up to keep the fingers moving. I've always thought I've heard something in there, maybe my first hit single, so after reading this I gotta go out and see if I can find a Buddy Holly album. Thanks 4 d motavation, Gary

Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
