I'm feeling dead ended on drum effects....
I was told by several local dealers, and local musicians,
that "drum machines" were obsolete, and too difficult to program..
So I went and bought a Black Box Reloaded, plus the foot pedal...
Great stuff...except every damn drumbeat is 4/4.
And this can't be adjusted.
So now...I want some effect board that will give me some essential
3/4 or 6/8 drumbeats.....peferably ''in-line" with current effects..
Help !
thank you...
Mike

i don't think drum machines are obsolete.
i really don't have any idea about which piece of hardware to recommend,
but i think the real lesson here kids is "try before you buy"
i really like the fruity loops stuff and i've seen several programs on the web and suggested in here that would probably work well for you.
i think Arjen would be able to suggest one better than i tho.

Steinar had some ideas too:
On "Blue Rodeo" I use a couple of loops from the "Liquid Grooves" collection, and on "ZZ Rodeo" I programmed the drums using the great DFH-Superior VST plugin and sample library.

Drummers have their uses after all!!
You could always invest in a cheap ebay drum syth module and run it via midi sequencer on your PC?

how come we can't buy drummers on eBay?
that'd be nice. :D

You might be able to get close . I remember seeing some website that sells drum loops also advertise for "remote drum track creation". Basically, you send them your track, and he tracks the drums and sends it back to you. (Soon, this will be outsourced to China  )

we need another debate...what is better made in america drums or MIA's.
I use Groove Agent myself. Normally it doesn't matter what drumcomputer you use as long as the samples are either decent or replacable and you can program your own drumlines with midi. Every sequencer support basically all time signatureds imaginable.

Thanks...but I was trying to avoid interface use altogether, and just have a portable effects board (like the Black Box)without the need to take a notebook computer with me when I go play elsewhere.
My 35-year old Roland 77 analog machine can give me the 3/4 and 6/8 drumbeats I need, but is too big and cumbersome to take out on playing dates, and too unwieldy to change speeds and settings on.
