I'm looking for a reverb , Echo and some kind of overdrive pedal to go with the Black-heart. Line 6 has some pretty cool looking (and sounding) pedals. The tonecore Echo park, Verbzilla, crunch tone pedals looked nice. does anyone have any experience with these :?:

thanks

I use the Echo Park in my standard pedalboard arrangement. as I mentioned in another thread, I bought it to replace my beloved Line6 DL-4 that died (but happily just needed a reset -- diff story). I like and recommend the Echo Park. Delay EFX are many and v good. I miss the looping function of the DL-4., but don't expect a useful looper in a compact pedal. only real complaint is that the mode setting is difficult to read, esp in dim light -- tiny knob, lotsa clicks (settings) and wee print. it's almost hands-and-knees-plus-flashlight ops if you are going to change modes on a dark stage. but if you mainly use one mode and only vary delay (tap tempo), mix, repeats - no problem.

if you have the floor space, you might see if you can get a used Line6 DL-4 instead. $100 would be a steal. just need to learn to reset it (cold boot), as it can flake out after a long time without a reset. but it's such a good delay pedal, it's worth a little agro.

one more thing -- the Tone Core line seems to go on sale every so often, unlike the larger Line6 pedals.

Thanks Greg :D They have the crunch tone on sale with the Docking base. I'm getting these mostly for the Blackheart BH5H. I'm getting the speaker cab for it next week then will start saving for the pedals. BTW can the effects modules be used without the base? The bases seem to run about $65. I'm mostly going to use the Tonecore pedals in the studio with the Blackheart and would use the blues JR for any gigs or what not.

Tone Core pedals come (came) in two flavors: modular (as you describe) and uh ... not modular or one-piece. I bought the one-piece version, as I never thought I would swap out modules from the base, but would end up buying another base if I snagged another Tone Core effect. I'm not sure Line6 even makes the one-piece version anymore. in any case, the modular structure makes the most sense (to me) where one might only use one type of distortion, so would not (edit!) need two in line at the same time. but I can't imagine switching during performance either. modular also makes sense for sneaky marketing, as a playing with one base and two gotta-use modules may opt in at the lower piece, then realize (s)he needs another base to really use these EFX.

I believe you will need both a module and a base to do anything.

I found tonecore pedals on sale at Instruments pro.com The Blackheart amps are also on sale, I just saved $30 on the speaker cab and $40 on the head. MF matched the price per their policy 8) I'll just save up and get the basses with the pedals. good things come to those who wait  Yeah it probably is a sneaky sales gimmick, but it looks to be the best bang for my $$$.

I've got a Tonecore Tap Trem I use in my stage rig. Everything works as advertised, but it does have a tendency to be a bit noisy when it's on, I don't know if that's true of other Tonecore pedals, but I'd listen for it real hard when trying them out. If it weren't for the tap tempo feature, and the fact that it only sees use on a few songs, I'd probably pull it out of the chain. This is the only pedal in my chain I didn't test drive before buying. That won't happen again.

Overdrive, I just love my Bad Monkey. It's responsive to touch and the volume knob, and it's easy to dial in just the right amount of grunt.

Have you considered an analog delay? I've got an Ibanez AD-9, and I've spent time checking out the MXR Carbon Copy. If the MXR pedal had been out when I was buying I probably would have picked it over the AD-9, but I can't justify owning both . . . yet. You might want to consider also that short delays do really well as a substitute for reverb, but no reverb can sub for a delay.

I have an AD-9 in addition to the Echo Park and DL-4. the Echo Park (and DL-4) does a very good AD-9 emulation, so now I only keep the AD-9 around as a backup.

On OD pedals: I have a Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive and a T-Rex Moller. both are nice and have "clean" (basically wet/dry mix) adjustment in addition to the usual gain, tone and output level controls. the Moller also has a voicing switch and second, adjustable clean gain section with separate footswitch that gives me level jump to 11 (or 12!) when I need it. downside: Moller is about $200 street. Sparkle drive is approx $110.

Well, I Decided to go with the Ibanez DE-7 delay/echo unit. for $79. I really just need a short delay for Country, rockabilly type stuff. This seems to work well for that.

The other pedal I chose was a Boss "Fender 65Delux Reverb-amp" pedal for $117. It has both reverb and overdrive plus Vibrato.
I'm not totally satisfied with this one :( The overdrive is very good, sounds Awesome 8) The vibrato is also very good, very close to the Deluxe Reverb amp sound. The problem is the reverb. With a clean tone its just OK, nothing like the real thing but usable. With the overdrive the reverb sounds very cheesy....Like extra cheesy. I can use this with the Blues Junior amp, like I said the overdrive is to die for! The blackheart sounds great with the overdrive and I can use the Hall reverb on my Alesis Ineko processor. I'll just save up for the "Holy Grail Reverb" or maybe the "Verbzilla"
