So I am currently building a Foxx Tone Machine. I was wondering if anyone knew any tricks to make the octave stand out more. I heard running it through a LP filter helps, but I would assume that a HP filter would do more. I would prefer to keep my setup analog, not because Im an analog snob, but because I have put the money into it and Id like to follow through :) . Anyways any suggestions would be great.
I would experiment with the value of Q2's collector resistor (the 4.7k resistor to + supply)-- maybe try 3.3k, 3.9k, 5.6k, 6.8k and listen. 2.2k and 8.2k might also be worth a try as well. it looks to me as if Q2 is a phase splitter. changing that resistor value should change the ratio of the in-phase and out-of-phase waveforms feeding the subsequent diode clipping circuit.
