I thought so too, but still don't think I've got it. Only thing I can think of is "Terminus El Dorado" by Ted Nugent, and I don't think that's it!

I'd like to use a lifeline please...

A lifeline, huh? Okay...

This rockabilly number was released in 1958, then 21 years later these punkers had a Calling to cover this song.

The original release and the cover version did not clash too much.

Brand New Cadillac, originally by Vince Taylor and the Playboys, covered by The Clash.

I'll try to get something recorded tonight.

Alright, I don't think this one is very hard. No clue until later.

JWMartin is correct, of course. And nice to have you join the game!

I recognize the riff, but can't quite place it. I don't need a clue yet. Let me chew on this a bit.

Hey, we have a new playa! :D

The riff is very familiar sounding to me too. I'll have to listen to it some more though yet.

Here's a hint on the artist if you want it, I made it really small in case you don't want to see it.

This artist's self-title album was their 8th studio album

OK, hint time :D

I have some of the song title in my closet, some of it is green and some is Black. I prefer jeans, but for my work dress code, these are Better Man.

The color hints work on several levels and could lead you to the artist.

Another hint: the song title doesn't appear in the lyrics.

And one of the vowels in the song title is "u"

Some great clues for me to chew on. I'm out of town this weekend. Maybe someone else will guess before I get back Sunday evening.
