Okay. Here's a simple one. Just to get the game moving. Hopefully someone will recognize this.

My first instinct told me something by 'The Who'. Sounds a bit like a clean version of a Pete Townsend riff to me. Very nicely played, I like the sound a lot. I'll wait for some clues later on....
I agree, very Who like riff there.

fa fa fa far off the mark. Betta run, run away.
Weeellll - if that's a hint, it's a pretty big one - Psycho Killer by Talking Heads.
bloos66, you guessed the last riff correctly, so now it's your turn to post the new riff for everyone to guess.

Dan,
ah, so this is how it works - guess the riff, post your own. No worries, even though I classify myself as a beginner (on my way to advanced beginner who still can't play barre chords), I search far and wide for an appropriate riff. I took me a while to get it together, and I hope that my efforts are acceptable and add something to this game.

I hope it all works, and I look forward to some feedback and your guesses.
Cheers, b.
Sounds very similar to something by Roy Orbison I once heard.

Wow, you added a drum track too! That's a 1st for guess that riff! 8)
I'm going to guess "Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison?

Drum track - thanks for the compliment. I did this in Garageband, so adding a drum loop is easy and helps me stick to the beat.
Roy Orbison's Pretty Woman is a good guess. I hadn't thought of it, it's got its similarities but it's not the right one.
Hint: Austin, Texas.
Rodders got me thinking of Roy Orbison.
Aha! Now I think I've got it: "Crossfire" by Stevie Ray Vaughan?

That's it, well done :-)
And now for your guessing pleasure:

Oooh! Tough one. Almost generic but there's a definite signature there. I can think of two songs it might be. I'm itchin' to guess.
