This should be another easy one. you don't need the specific name or artist........

Beautiful interpretation, purple!
I added a melody only version to the ESD about a year ago.
I'll leave it for someone with a riff ready to go...
:)
Don
I don't have a riff ready, but I will have one tomorrow... so here's my guess...
The Godfather Theme - John Williams (Composer)
<EDIT>
 I oopsed here... I used my memory for the composer and I was wrong. Thanks Boxboy for pointing out my error. Do I still win this round :D
'The Godfather Theme' was all I was looking for so you are up, Boogie. The name of the song and author are 'Speak Softly Love' by Nino Rota... but who knows that off the top of their head? I wish I could take credit for the arrangement but alas it is not mine.
It's not easy being green.... good thing I'm purple.
Woot! :D
Next time I'll do some fact checking so I don't embarrass myself.

I loved that song when I was a kid...
:)
Don
You got it Boxboy.
I heard it Friday evening, on the way home from work, and it bumped my other riff choice.
Guess who:

So familiar... It's like an itch I can't reach :)
Ah, I know that feeling, Boogie. It's almost painful! :(
It's an old rockabilly song. Over the decades it's been covered by the likes of The Who, Brian Setzer and Rush.

I have a solution, although it's a bit late in the year for this, if you know what I mean.
Unfortunately, I don't have anything to post and I'm not in a position to record anything, either, so I'll hang back. It was originally recorded when I was a lad - it was our favourite on the juke box at the bowling alley (assuming I've got it right, of course).
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Spot on, Greybeard. Kind of sad really, isn't it?

I'm thinking Blue Cheer covered this, which was kind of interesting twist considering the song title.

There's a video on youtube of their version. Pretty psychedelic; it's definitely worth a look. :)
