I have a list of 3 unintentionally gruesome lyrics. Can anyone else add to the list:
Every time you go away, you take a piece of me with you.
Paul Young
Stop dragging my heart around.
Tom Petty
Torn between two lovers.
Mary MacGregor
40-something guy
I don't know if this is unintentional or not. But it strikes me as somewhat gruesome:
She said that all the railroad men
Just drink up your blood like wine.
An' I said, "Oh, I didn't know that,
But then again, there's only one I've met
An' he just smoked my eyelids
An' punched my cigarette."
Bob Dylan
Not really gruesome but dirty
Guinaveres sly enough to steal a little taste
And her laughter it peels into the night
Oh but forbidden fruit always stays sticky on your face
With our virtue, with our centrefold
Rain Shadow
I only have eyes for you - the Flamingos
I left my heart in San Francisco - Tony Bennett
Take my arms , I wanta lose them .
Take my lips , I'll never use them . - All of me by Willie Nelson , Ann Murray , etc. , etc.
If I claim to be a wise man , it surely means that I don't know .
"Take my hand, we'll make it I swear" - Living on a Prayer, Bon Jovi.
Not gruesome either but if you take the entire song 'Every Breath You Take' by the police out of context it becomes a song about stalking.
Drugs are a waste of time. They destroy your memory and your self-respect and everything that goes along with with your self esteem. Kurt Cobain
Have you seen the roses? There's a whole lot of colours. Syd Barret
How about:
Take another little piece of my heart now, baby!
Break it!
Break another little bit of my heart now, darling, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Have another little piece of my heart now, baby,
You know you got it if it makes you feel good...
Janis Joplin, but I prefer Sammy Hagar's version... 8)
Margaret
When my mind is free, you know a melody can move me
And when I'm feelin' blue, the guitar's comin' through to soothe me ~
Ragged lines of ragged grey
Skeletons, they shuffle away
Shouting guards and smoking guns
Will cut down the unlucky ones
Rush--Red Sector A
"Colour made the grass less green..." 3000 miles, Tracy Chapman

Actually, coming from sting himself, the song IS about stalking.
I think I saw it on VH1 some time ago.

Yeah that sounds familiar, i think i heard sting talk about that song somewhere, not sure it was VH1 though.
the lyrics pretty much imply stalking in a very straightforward way - "every breath you take i'll be watching you".
that's as clear as it gets!

''Baby, let me be,
your loving teddy bear,
put a chain round my neck,
and leave me anywhere..."
- "Let me be your teddy bear" by Elvis Presley

It is a song about stalking
"The Beauty of Music is my Sanity. Without it, I would simply lose my gravity, and blow away with the breeze." - Ness K(Aka Matt Harris)
I'd just looked up the lyrics to that song because a friend posted that Sting is coming to San Diego. I was going to quote a bit of it, but decided not to! I knew he'd said it was about a stalker.
"A cheerful heart is good medicine."
Little Willy Willy won't go home
Well, you can't push Willy well
Willy won't go...
Could've been the theme song for an ad for that stuff that shows the people in two bathtubs.
What's up with those bathtubs, anyway?
"A cheerful heart is good medicine."
