i have been having a bit of fun with this above lesson - i was surprised by how quickly this sort of thing can be incorporated into my playing.
however, when i look at the triads he is using i see a major scale with a minor 7th. i am not exactly sure what a would use if i was soloing over a one chord vamp using this style?
i get by fine with the blues scale over this, but i wouldnt mind understanding what all my options are.
what is it i have overlooked?
thanks, Al
edit: after watching it again i see that the only sharpe in this progression is F# and he does mention G major. so would this mean (as the vamp is in D) that i could solo using the D lydian mode here?

A major scale with a minor 7th - G-A-B-C-D-E-F-G for example - is mixolydian mode (in this case the mixolydian mode of C Major). It works over a G major chord because of the dissonance between the F and the F#. G Blues will use G-Bb-C-D-F, with the dissonance between B and Bb
D lydian is in the key of A - 3 sharps - D-E-F#-G#-A-B-C#-D - don't forget your intervals.
