Welcome to the asylum for the musically insane!

Here's a couple of places to look:

List of Guitar Noise theory articles

Greybeard's pages

Howard's theory pages

That should get you started!

this place has a large scale database with accompanying .wavs so you can hear them, it has lots of charts too

I don't follow my dreams, I just ask em' where they're going and catch up with them later.

Speaking of books, don't forget:

You can read Nick's Review of Tom's Book.

Hey linda88

I know this is a little late, but I have a plain English site http://www.guitarforbeginners.com which might help.

There's also a great site named Ricci Adams' Musictheory.net.

It's oriented towards piano, classical music and standard notation, but it's very good.

Theory is much easier to learn on piano than guitar because the basics are all there on the keyboard, spelled out in black and white!

Theory is easier on a keyboard because there's only one of everything - on most of my guitars I can play five different middle Cs.

The execution's easier too... there's only one standard fingering for each scale on a piano (C is 1-2-3-1-2-3-4-5 for instance). On a guitar, you've got 11 different fingerings for a one octave major scale. It gets even more complicated when you get to chords... but that's why the guitar is such a flexible instrument.

OT: Noteboat...

I tried to purchase yuor theory book online, but I stay in South Africa and that country isn't on your list... does that mean you don't ship here, or is there another link where they do ship to SA?

Eclips3, it means the credit card processor I use doesn't do business with South Africa for some reason - and that's news to me!

I don't have a distributor there - Greybeard from the GN website does EU distribution, so you could contact him and see if he'll ship... if not, write me at tomserb@noteboat.com and we'll figure something out.
