Am I the only one who read that and felt like a bit of an idiot? The start, I was all, "yup, yup, know the progresion, know the numerals, easy going..." then the licks were listed and it swiftly changed to "uh oh, I'm pretty lost...."

I'll post a more 'reasonable' comment on what exactly is confusing me, once I can figure it out a little better, but for now.......

What the heck is "enclosure chromaticism"?!? :? (Aside from being something currently hovering roughly 8 inches above my head, that is).

Clunky name for it if you ask me - it needs a slang-style name rather than a technical-style name, like 'lazy bends' aren't called 'pitch-adjustment-synchopated bends'. Anyhooo, if you were aiming for an A note, with enclosure chromatism you'd first hit Bb, then Ab, then A. Enclosing the A note with chromatic notes, as it were.

As I understood it, the note would be preceded by a note one chromatic step lower than it and followed by a note which is diatonically one step higher.
Not something that I'm particularly familiar with though.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Hello - im searching for this lesson, but cant seem to find it. i googled "ii v i" and the results had a link to a GN newsletter from a while back which stated this lesson was on the site, but when i search the lessons or use the GN search box, all i get are references to the lesson, not the lesson itself.

I understand the lesson was a while ago, has it been removed now or am i just looking in the wrong places?

thanks.
Al

Al, I remember several lessons on jazz by Hans Fahling ( https://www.guitarnoise.com/author/hansfahling/ ) and this is the first one: https://www.guitarnoise.com/lessons/jazz-comping-1/ That progression is cited in several ones. I don't remember a specific lesson on that progression but I remember some lost lessons during the last software upgrade (I think Paul recovered all of them).

Googling enclosure chromaticism brings up the article "ii V I Mayhem" here:

That's because I moved your thread and the response into the pre-existing thread on that lesson. Greybeard's link took you to the preexisting thread.

In this forum, all questions and responses about a lesson are kept in one thread.

The closest I can find to the lesson is in March 2008 newsletter:

https://www.guitarnoise.com/newsletter/vol-3-63/

I wonder if the lesson itself has been deleted?

thats what i wondered, it seems easy enough to find references to the lesson called "ii v i madness", but not the lesson itself.

When Paul did the last update (and my brain is so addled I can't even remember when that was), this may have been one of the lessons that got moved or removed. Many of the lessons we get from other contributors are also up on their own websites, so it may be possible to find it that way.

If I remember correctly, Nick Kellie has been teaching for www.guitartricks.com, so you may find some of his lessons, maybe even this one, there.

Hope this helps.

Peace

bebop's based off the bebop scale. this is just a walk up or walk down.
