Well I'm so sick of playing in cover band with no originality and members who think they know it all I decided to step out on my own and start writing. (don't get me wrong i'm still playing with my friends just needed something dif to) So i got my studio back open and i pulled up some lyrics i wrote before Hurricane Katrina when I met my now newly wed wife. She doesn't even know I wrote them never even seen em. So i did some minor changes and I think for my first time its not bad critique me.

To Good To Be True

I lie awake each night
Thinking about my life
And how great it is with you by my side
Through thick and thin
Through the good times and bad
Nothing compares to what we have

Chorus:

This love is like no other love
God sent me an angel down from above
I don't know what I did to deserve you
I don't know what I'd do without you
This love is just To Good To Be True

When I hold you tight
I feel you sigh
I know you love me by that look in your eyes
As I lie next to you in the still of the night
I think to my self what did I do right

(Because): Chorus:

Bridge:

Take me in your arms and hold me tight
Lets make another memory right here tonight

Solo Break
Chorus (BIG)

No matter where you go.... There You are! Law of Location

yea well i plan on singing it for her eventually. i suck at singing according to myself. Othes dont' seem to think so but I have to get over my fear of mu sucking first. 8 years of marching band and learning music theory and hearing what sounds good and whats in tune is not helping that.. I'll post a recording soon

It would not be fair to give any kind of critique on the lyrics without the music. Sometimes, you can comment on lyrics that are poems in their own right - but you cannot call a song bad or good because the lyric is a bit trite, or doesn't rhyme.

As an example, one of my favourite albums is "Humans Lib" by Howard Jones. On that album, there is only one song that does not have structured verses, and does not have rhyming lines - the lyric does not look very impressive on paper. The song is "What Is Love", and it was an enormous world-wide hit. As were "Wonderwall" and "Sally Can Wait" by Oasis, the lyrics of which would be regarded as linked collections of trite phrases if they were not hit records, in which case they become "collages" - you can't call it bad names if it works!

There are too many good songs that have been hits, but are lyrically poor, for us to be critical of a set of lyrics standing alone.

Howdy leear. This rendition may be too structured,
but the matched syllable count should make
writing the music easier.
