Ok folks I just had to share this. (Maybe it should have been somewhere else)

In my 33 years thusfar, I've never completed any remotely satisfactory lyrics. And I've never ever came up with a melody.

Yesterday in my car - a few lines dropped into my head, and they had a melody too!! Before I parked the car, the song was more or less ready in my head. OK, it may be clicheish (?) and everything - but it is my first song!! And I'm quite happy with it still. I have made a draft recording with two guitars, bass, drums and some harmonies.

Actually the song is a "greeting" to my ex-wife - and I would pay a lot of money in order to make it a big radiohit here in Norway

Morale of the story?
Never give up? It's never too late?

That's fantastic to hear!

For one, it's great that you got something that your happy with. There's nothing like a little self-satisfaction to keep the creativity rolling.

And secondly, it means there's hope for the rest of us who haven't had that break-through yet! I've written bunches of little things that I've ever really been really happy with. Maybe mine is just around the corner (er...car door?) too!

- Jason

P.S. Of course, it's a work in progress, but it still sounds good. Keep working it, and I'm sure you'll have a nice end-product.

For a first original song, that's brilliant! Even though I don't speak Norwegian (if some Norwegian Wood be kind enough to translate?) the feeling gets across....

The voice is good, the melody's good, the backing works well - the key changes work great. The solo's pretty good, but that's my only minor quibble - I'd love to hear you hit a really hit note with vibrato and sustain it, right at the end of the solo.

I'm impressed, Lars - it's BEAUTIFULLY put together!

:D :D :D :D :D

A million thanks Vic!:-)

I'm very happy with it still. And the thing is - I have a long to-do list. But it is only about performance - the song is there; it is how it is - and it came to me. It is one of the first things in a long time I feel I have accomplished - see translation of lyrics below :-)

I have to do something with the solo - it is kinda random at the moment. I will record a new bass track, and I have some challenges with the mix ... etc.

And I really wish my ex-wife could hear it on the radio one day on her way to work - thinking "that is a good song" until she recognize who sings it. "I was certain that life would gonna be good. And I think if I hadn't met up with you - it would" The lyrics are probably too personal - but again - it is how it is.

OK - translation, almost word by word

A song to you

Once I beleived I was an alright guy
With average skills like everyone else
I have never been cool or self confident
But I think I was sure that folk largely wished me the best

I have never struggled hard to be unique
i've never dreamed about being rich
I was certain that life would gonna be good
And I think if I hadn't met up with you - it would

For love does not always need to be kind
It can ruin a lot through the games people play
I didnt know much when I settled down with you
Now I know that it doesn't pay of to be kind - No

You gave me a lot during the times we shared
I know havent given enough in return
You have given me both guilt and shame
So now I will give you a song I have written to you-u-u-u-u

Here is a song which is written only to you

Great job Lars. :D

Nice match between the musical feel of the song and the message the lyrics were conveying. First step now very successfully taken, so make sure you keep walking. More songs please.

Cool tune Lars. I've been meaning to click on it for a day or two now. Thanks for posting the lyrics too. Maybe a Punk version is next? :)
