Hi all, i've not been to this website for years, gave up on songwriting due to the frustration it caused me.
Just want to see what you think about a song i've done recently, i started it in my head one cold winters morning walking to work. All comments welcome. Thanx.

Another morning dark as hell
Half asleep its just as well
It keeps my feet from feeling winter
seeping through my shoes
The bed i left is where you lay
A warm and naked world away
I Close my eyes and try to stay
A moment more with you

But this northern wind

It screeches through this Lowry scene
Of sleeted monotone
I've got my collar up
And my head is down
As i trudge this northern town
Just changing the shape of footprints
Never breaking in new ground.

Fodder feeding industry
When your ends refuse to meet
You have to do the time
What are the alternatives
Indebted as the day begins

what does ' Lowry scene ' mean?
anyways...writing can be frustrating cause you can never write as good as you want to and its pretty horrible to try and write when the ideas arent coming, maybe what you did was a good idea, just leave it till it comes to you. it something that should be enjoyable so if your not enjoying it...stop.
i like it though, youve taken a simple subject that couldve been boring and made it into an interesting read. your on your way back into the flow mate! :D
Thanks for the reply cole. I don't know about being back in the flow, it takes me an age to actually come up with lyrics i like.
The lowry scene refers to LS Lowry the painter..matchstick men etc. I live in the north of England, industrialised areas are all around, the walk i was taking reminded me of a scene from a lowry painting where people are leaning into the wind, hands in pockets struggling to make their way to their place of work, usually a factory of some kind.....really i was trying to romanticise what in reality was utterly drab!
