Here's a new song I just wrote Friday. Any feedback would be much appreciated. I had a hard time coming up with a title. Anyone have any thoughts about what I chose?
Keep Lovin' You ©R.Steffen 2008
It blew in on a cold chilly wind -
caught me unawares
Came Saturday, time to pack it in -
boxed up all my cares
Chorus:
Drove my truck to Memphis
Couldn't bear to travel on
Tried to weather the tempest
had to keep movin' on
With a grey sky hanging close overhead –
tried to sing to you
But the snowflakes and wind whistling by -
took my words – and you
Chorus:
Drove my truck to Boulder
Couldn't bear to travel on
As the weather turned colder
had to keep movin' on
So on bare trees and raindrops I rode –
smoky thoughts in the air
Tried to hold on to clear skies ahead –
times that we used to share
Chorus:
Drove my truck to Reno
Couldn't bear to travel on
When the wind ceased to blow
had to keep movin' on
Sunshine and blue skies seemed gone -
had to feel what I'd lost
Like some treasure that's tarnished and dull -
wrapped up, bagged and tossed
Chorus:
Drove my truck to see you
Couldn't bear to leave you now
All the things I had to do
had to keep lovin' you
