Play this pretty upbeat, quick downstrokes for the Am-F part
intro: Am Am7 F F(with no pointer finger at all)
(do one 4/4 measure every 2 chords here)
Am F
I dont know but I been told
Am F
That at the end when youve grown old
Am F Am F
you dont really die you just float
And I dont really know the way
I think you take a class one day
and then you can walk the road
(one 4/4 measure per line, C gets 2 beats)
Am G C
But I still cant find my way
Am G C
So were gonna make em pay
(each line is one 4/4 measure again C gets 2 beats)
F G Em F
When we hit the streets they wont know what hit 'em
F G C
Well plant it like a seed
F G Em F
And the whole world would rejoice and cry out with one voice
F G C
This is the land of the fuckin' free
Till then im wanderin' the world
and lookin for the tracks that curl
'round the corner to the promised land
Under the blanket of the alley smoke
Ill pocket it inside my coat
and drop the money in his hand
Thank God I can finally
Blind myself from me
And the spark turns to flame, and makes all the days the same
till your floatin' like your made of steam
And we'll all drive in the lanes and fly crashing planes
So you better steer clear of me
Well I wandered a bit too far down
Past one too many troubled towns
Still searchin' for that burnin' tree
It came to me while dreaming last
I saw my all too troubled past
Before you came back to haunt me
Why Haven't I seen your face
Since our lips parted that day
Everyone I knew before has moved on up and out the door
and left me to my ways
But im getting much better at actin' myself
So I think Ill be ok

you really hit your stride with this stanza:
Well I wandered a bit too far down
Past one too many troubled towns
Still searchin' for that burnin' tree
Really liked that, but I didn't feel that the rest were as good as this one. Some are better than others so I would at least take the weakest ones and try and improve them and make them more interesting. The first one in my opinion is among the weakest. Others like:
It came to me while dreaming last
I saw my all too troubled past
Before you came back to haunt me
are not bad, if anything they do their job. I didn't understand this part:
Under the blanket of the alley smoke
Ill pocket it inside my coat
and drop the money in his hand
Thank God I can finally
Blind myself from me
Is this about him drinking? "blind myself from me" Name what "it" is in the 2nd line. 3rd line is also vague,
"Join the crazed institution of the stars... be the man that you think you really are... and you can wear a crown of roses around your cranium, live and die upon your cross of platinum..."
ive actually changed the lyrics a bit already. im gonna repost them with an mp3 eventually. That whole ally scene is a drug deal and I changed the prechorus part in that second part to
Thank God I can finally
Set My spirit free
anyways i thought that would be really clear, especially with the spark turn to flame part after it.
I feel like some parts are a little off topic, but they fit together somehow in my head haha. That was my first draft itll stay like 80% the same probably before im done.
I think it all works really well with the music of it so ill have to post an mp3 or somethin it all pulls toward the next part.
My favorite part is "the whole world would rejoice and cry out with one voice this is the land of the fckn free" If im ever a rock star i bet the fans will all scream that part hahaha
