We Gave It A Try - New song, new to forum

Hi all,
I'm Todd Swain and I'm new to the forum here.
I'm an ameteur singer and lyricist who's been recently collaborating with musicians at various site's ( mainly
the Les Paul Forum ), creating original song's via Home Recording.

I always like to get comments on the songs I write and sing and was hoping to get some thoughts on this tune.

It's my love song/tribute to my wife of 20 years.
If you have a second, I'd really like to know if it strikes any chord with you and what you may think of the
song's overall construction and message.

Saw a new girl at the college today
She looked so pretty but she was so far away
