My song writing has been dormant for a year and a half at least while I dealt with multiple hospital visits, heart attacks, and something similar to lyme disease.
A few weeks ago I went to a song writing retreat to ty to kick start my brain.

Over the last week I decided to write an autobiographical song. Allergic to Cats. I'll try to come up with a recording sometime this week.

Allergic to Cats

chorus
Let’s get this straight, I’m allergic to cats
It’s biological, that’s just a fact
When I get near em, my whole body reacts
So now you know, I’m allergic to cats

I fell in love with a beautiful lady
I asked her to marry me
On our wedding day, she adopted a stray
Have I mentioned, I’m allergic to cats

Now Katie was a beautiful kitten
And everyone else was smitten
I said please, and started to sneeze
Remember, I’m allergic to cats

Chorus

Our house flooded when it rained real hard
10 feet of water in our yard
A boat came to evacuate, someone said “You hold Kate”
Do I have to? I’m allergic to cats

There we were floating on the water
My wife, me and our feline daughter
My face started to swell and I didn’t feel well
Oh oh, I’m allergic to cats

bridge
My eyes were itching, lungs started twitching
My nose wanted to leave my face
Arms were shaking, and my chest started aching
How did I get in this place?

chorus

Thanks for checking it out Chefie. Since nothing else is happening here I figured to start posting stuff.

I have spent the last hour trying to gather up my long dormant recording equipment. Tomorrow I'll see if I can remember how this stuff works. I did a rough take with a ukulele but I am planning this with a guitar mostly playing a bass line and a kind of talking / singing style.

Hi John

Good to see you here again. I took the liberty of moving your post to this forum ("Guitar Noise Songwriting Club") because we're not (yet) running the SSG.

Like your song, by the way. I'm imagining it done with ukulele, but anything would work well.

Looking forward to more!

Peace

Much better, John. Thank you for asking.

Looking forward to progressing on my own songwriting (and other writing) in the very near future.

Peace

I haven't used soundcloud or soundclick for over a year. The links they are creating are for a whole catalog of songs rather thasn individual songs. Any idea how to fix this?

My playing is not as good as I like and my use of the DAW software is rudimentary but I think that you get the idea from this.

Thanks for the listen and comment Chefie. It's rough but it gets the idea across.

Thanks for posting this. Did you really get rescued from the flood waters? Must have been a memorable event.

Looking forward to more.

Peace

Yes, this is a true story. I had just given up smoking that month, July 1996. We got 19 inches of rain in 24 hours. Water follows the path of least resistance and our subdivision was located near a blocked railroad trestle. The neighborhood filled up like a bathtub.
After our evacuation I was swollen up and reacting.
Our neighbors and their dog were also in the boat.
