I've been to 3 different guitar stores checking things out... Found a very nice Martin 16 series cutaway for a good price but it was mahogany and I need to have rosewood... My next stop is going to be this place, which is about 45 minutes from my house - found it advertised in Acoustic Guitar magazine:

They seem to have a great number of new and used guitars...
I'll only be down there (in the basement practicing) for a couple of minutes or so...

I think you should give that $3000 to my favorite charity:

If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis

PS, I already gave to the charities... Now I need something for myself    I believe this is what Mr. Gilmour is holding in the picture to the left... If it's good enough for him it's certainly good enough for me...

I love that guitar. You just won't believe the tone, playability, fast neck.
Perhaps thats why I own one.
Can I borrow it for a week to be sure?
Is there anything you don't like about it? Or anything you would change slightly?

Nothing, nada, zip, zilch. It still has the original nut, saddle, electronics.
The sound is overwhelming for a small guitar. It isn't overly complex tonally, and so very pure fundamentally. It's like getting hit with a sonic hammer. It's... It's the fine cuban cigar of guitars.
I play a bunch of great guitars, Collings, Breedlove, Fylde, Mermer. I always come back to this one.
One more thing, mine had a finish crack when I got it. The guitar is so amazing that I won't ever have it repaired. I just sealed it. I'm afraid if they fix it they may ruin the tone.
The Flyde matches it in tone, but not playability. The Breedlove is close but no cigar tonally, perhaps better playing. The Collings is much better in both departments. Then again it was much more expensive and the Collings is different, more subtle. Hard to compare.
I don't think you could possibly go wrong with the 712ce. If you want a guitar that sounds like a guitar should, it's the one.
Do you know what the difference is between the 714ce and 712ce? Found a used 714ce for $1800...

Engleman Spruce vs Western Cedar on the 714
How much are they asking for the 712ce?
$2500ish is right for New.
They only have the 714ce... Looks like the 712 is also smaller looking at the specs on Taylors website...
