OK - if you could have 5 electric guitars in your collection, and only 5, what would they be? For the sake of the argument, let's leave out customs and vintage etc - just models in general.
Personally I think a Tele, Strat and Les Paul are givens.
Then it gets trickier..
Maybe a PRS and a hollowbody...Gibson ES335....or maybe something more exotic..Gretsch, Rickenbacker.....hmmm...

That's my entire list too, it just happened to be 5 items long... and I genuinely would not swap my first guitar for any other on the planet. When I started out, every guitarist I'd ever spoken to had said "I really wish I still had my first guitar", so I resolved then that I would never let it go no matter what. Since then, that sentiment has evolved to be any of my guitars... not being able to trade up is a little limiting, but I'm happy with my choice
Slash could stand outside my door begging me to swap my Kay for his entire collection and give me free lessons 40 hours a week for the rest of my life, and I'd still keep it. I might try and barter something for a loan, but it'd still be mine
Is Schecter an American type thing? I've only ever heard of them in this forum. I've never seen one in Australia and I don't know what's so good about them. They're obviously pretty cool because you guys all seem to love them! I had a look online at musician's friend once, but it's hard to tell what all the fuss is about just looking at a pic and some stats online....
I can totally understand the feeling of not wanting a LP or Strat, I never wanted them either (i still don't have a Strat but it will probably be next on the list) because I felt like everyone has them. However after 'accidentally' plugging them in at the shops, the sound and playability of them just blew me away and I had to have them. I think they're like prestige cars, there's a reason people want them - it's not just to be cool, it's because they're so hard to beat :D

Thats why I love my Schecter C1EA and no doubt I believe that the guitars you are talking about sound beautiful. So many pros play them.. But my Schecter has such an awsome tone. I believe its Korean.. but I am not sure.. never really checked.
For what its worth. My next guitar is a Lite Ash Tele.. I forgot to list that specifically.
