You may not have thought of this, but if you have, I congratulate you. Learn jazz. I had always been into jazz, but never learned any of it. It will help you imensely playing all this stuff with hyper clean tones. I can finally nail that Yngwie run I've been trying to get, but what I'm exited about is laerning to play jazz. Here's a good site. http://www.jazzguitar.be/

Welcome to Guitar Noise MRJazzClassicalMetalShred.

I am curious :? - what is 'Shredding' - I've heard the term several times on the forum but don't know what it means?.

Thanks for any info :)

Playing really fast, like Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Paganini(the original), Eddie van Halen, Randy Rhoads, a lot of others I'm too lazy to list but deserve to be on here.....I hope that clears some things up.

Thank You Thank You Thank You :)
I learned Improv and Triple Z.
Spryo Gyra, Frank Zappa and Pat Travers are good to listen to for
influences. They may not be "Kill Society" type stuff, but when you listen
to it and realize these people are pretty much making up the solo
as they go along - as the music makes them feel like, if you apply
that mindset to any type of music (or anything for that matter),
You'll shred like a pro sk8ter in an abandonded swimming pool. :)

oh wait, it ain't THAT easy.... you have to know every inch of your
neck. You'll have to be able to practice penatonic scales while
having your ear glued to the phone listening to some sort of Aunt or Cousin go off about something you don't care about.
There's probably a whole lot more, but some one else can fill that in :)

I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed, but when
you're a 22lb sledge, do you really have to be?

What I do to make sure im playing clear and precise is take, even stuff i've been playing for ages, use a clean channel and play it slow and build up the speed.

You can't forget about people like Django Reinhardt or Wes Montgumery.
