Hi All,
I need some new strings for my Ibanez electric Acoustic. As this is my first electric acoustic I'm not really sure what strings to put on it.Is there anything specific you should put on because its electric?I need it to sound good with or without an amplifier.
Thanks

Best bet is to go to the shop and ask, they'll know whats best for you. They might even fit them for you as well :P
10 gauge are good, use these on yamaha electric acoustic. :D

I believe you're supposed to use acoustic strings on an acoustic guitar as the pickups are designed to be used with acoustic strings. If you have a guitar that's essentially electic (like a hollowbody that can be played unplugged) then you would get electric strings.
Oktay
yes i use acoustic strings on my acoustic guitars, but also i use 12 gauge acoustic strings on my les paul as well and like the sound! bet this gets some replies! off to put hard hat on.......bye

Ibanez acoustic/electrics come from the factory with 12 gauge D'Addario acoustic strings. I've used 11's, 12's and 13's on mine with no adjustments and no problems. If you like the way it feels now, stick with the 12's, and then just try to decide what brand you like. :D
I'm pretty fond of the .012 Elixir Nanoweb phosphor bronze strings currently installed on mine :)
I'm a fan of the martin SP's myself. You use acoustic strings generally speaking, but you can also use electric strings on acoustics if you prefer the sound. String choice should be same for an a/e as opposed to just an acoustic.
Guitarin' isn't a job, so don't make it one.
