My favourite amp settings for the dirty sound are:
4 bass
7treble
10 mids
8 deep(only on marshalls!)
gain 8

"No pain No gain!"- The Scorpions
I'd imagine this will get moved but I'll post before it does. I'm quite fond on the British Hi Gain setting on my V-Amp, with Drive off, Gain about 6-7, Bass and Treble an 6 and middle and 7.
Vacate is the word...Vengance has no place on me or her...Cannot find a comfort in this world.
Excuse me, but isn't this a totally senseless question? There are hundreds of different amps out there, ranging from tiny transistor jobs to kilowatt tube monsters, some have a volume and a tone control, others have a battery of knobs that make the space shuttle cabin look like a coffee percolator. How can you possibly compare a "1" on one amp to that on another?
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not in any dictionary?

Thats true Greybeard, the settings I like on my Fender will sound entirely different on my friends Roland Cube, or somebody's Marshall.
Perhaps looking at general settings such as higher or lower gain, or scooped mids might be more sensible then specific settings.
