Carrie Underwood - Grand Ole' Opry. In the first 30 - 40 seconds or so you get a look at the acoustic guitarist. Very cool looking instrument, but i can't really get a good look at the name. I really dig that hi gloss finish & the half moon soundhole.

Wonder why it is placed off to the side of the strings like that?

I kinda thought it might be an Epiphone (headstock shape) but I am not sure. Anyone help me out with it?

Update - I just found out that Ricky Skaggs also plays one. It is a popular guitar in Nashville - a McPherson. They go for upwards of 5K.

Guess I can scratch that off the list!

Oh well...it's fun to dream...

http://mcphersonguitars.com/ Prepare yourself for the hi-fidelity sound of the website!

Nice topic. I've seen many players using them... on TV or videos of/from Nashville-based artists.

Well, you're right, I thought they were Fender's new re-issue of the Tacomas, after taking over the company.

Except I can clearly see from your video that the logo or headstock shape is NOT Tacoma so therefore, the above is true.

http://www.tacomaguitars.com/home.php So anywhoo, before the takeover, the original Tacoma people said like "Hey, this is where the soundhole belongs!" It has to do with the vibration of the top, and positioning of braces. Very smart! 8)

Oh and FWIW, don't give up due to price. Go buy yourself a Tacoma. They are absolute Cannons! Thats what they say.

Ed gets a little carried away. Billy Idol plays it like it is.

I'll have to check out the Tacomas. I had been visiting the McPherson site earlier, some very nice sound files on there. They better be, for 5 to 8 grand! Truly in a class of their own, beautiful sound & appearance.

McPherson Guitars is located about 30 miles from where I now live. I visited the shop and was very impressed. they do very high end guitars. the woods are all top top grade. I saw the wood storage area. it was full of exotic woods worth millions of dollars. the room was intensely climate controlled. they use computers to cut all the parts, but every guitar is hand assembled. the finishes are flawless. I applied for a position there are few years ago, but never heard back. the personal tour was cool.
I watched a guy set up a guitar. amazing care taken. the guitar cases are special made. they cost more than most of my good guitars.
the owner wants to be the next Stradivarius I think. his next builds will be mandolins and violins.
I played a McPherson. they sound great and feel good. I don't care for the looks though.
