Chord Accompaniment for Faithfully by Journey

Hi,

I'm working on an acoustic guitar version of the introduction to "Faithfully" by Journey. I like what I'm playing so far but I need some recommendations on chords.

I will be finger picking strings 1, 2, and 3 (E, B, and G), in that order, for each of the following chords:

D
Dsus2
Dsus4
D

I think that sounds beautiful but I would like to add some "fullness" to the sound by adding strummed chords played by a second guitar. Each chord would be strummed when I begin finger picking the chords mentioned above.

I'm not yet so musically advanced to know which chords would sound good. I would really appreciate chord recommendations. "Faithfully" can be found on Youtube.com if you need a reference to it.
