Any of you guys built one of these? http://www.chickenbonejohn.com/
I saw this guy at the Birmingham guitar show last month and was very impressed buy his instruments and the sound you can get from them, very traditional sounding great bluesy sound.
So was just wondering if any of you had any experience building them.

Thanks Dogbite,
Looks like he's got the hang of building these, they all seem to be 4 string. I think I'll start off simpler with a three string.
Got some really nice wooden cigar boxes through eBay,finding ones large enough is a bit hard though.

Ive been looking into these for years. First some background... Im the kinda guy thats always happy building, fixing, or planing a way to create something. Wether its a car, a building, a deck, or restoring a old tractor... That being said, ive always had a hands on approach to guitars

OK that and the fact that Im a fan of blues, and other roots music, had lead me to the CBG... I started out last winter when I built my own lap steel and at that time started planing a CBG. Not realy wanting to just toss something together, has kept me from starting at this point, but I did pickup a real cool cookie tin that I think will becouse the body. For the neck, Im planning on using wood from one of my own trees on my land, but havent picked the one yet. I have a lot of arrow streight ash trees that have night tight grain that might turn into it... Next is asking myself.... 3, 4, or 6 strings?? Most seem to be made with 3, but I see that 4 would be nice... 6 best, but that means the neck would need to be made stiffer... I could use a premade bolt on neck.... but not sure I want to go there...

Anyways... Ya, I think they are pretty cool. :D

If your into original sound check the video out on this web page.
I love the tone this guys getting out of what is basically a wooden box, three strings and a length of 2x1.
I think his amp is pretty cool also.
