Violining is a playing a note with a gradual attack, usually followed by lots of sustain -- i.e. a similated bowing. A compressor followed by a volume pedal is more controlled method of achieving this, but using a reverse looper (or delay pedal in reverse mode) approximates the same.

violining.
the technique is using a volume control to produce the note.
I use a volume pedal, but the guitars volume knob will work.
here's what I do:
with volume off I pluck the note. then bring up the volume.
what you hear is a note sounding but no initial pick pluck.
it sounds like the bowed violin note.
Roy Buchannon uses this technique well.
Cool, that makes sense. Thanks for the info :)

i found out, if you use really fast delay with that technique and bend the note then you get whale noises

For those who prefer affordable pedals, I'd go with Boss's newest version of their Delay pedals.
Something that lesser experienced guitarist might not realise is that with built in effects (from your amp) There's a few things that you might not realise. Most amps that have built-in effects also have noise suppressors, compressors, out-put boosts, and I THINK FROM MY EXPERIENCE, a vage reverb effect included. This might just be with this Marshall 30 watt I have.. I swear to you man. It's a ghost or it is in there..
Anyway,
Boss makes one of the best (affordable wise) noise suppressors available, and it's built in with there delay peddle. So.. Give it a shot.
