Ok - here's a question that stokes the fires a bit (I hope).

After selling some gear, I should have aout $1200 available for NEW gear! I am weighing the options of buying a used Gibson Les Paul Classic (goldtop or classic sunburst) for around $1200 or looking for a Carvin California Carved used for around $750 and using the remainder ($450) to put together a Fender Telecaster project. What do you all think?

The gear I have right now:

Fender USA Texas Special Sunburst
Washburn G10V (custom - see pic)
Schecter c1-SH

The gear I'm selling:

Fender USA Fat Strat (currently being re-finished in white)
Gibson USA Faded Series (brown) SG & case (near mint)

I play mostly classic rock (Rush, Zep) and some modern rock (Weezer) and Metal (Maiden).

Thanks!

I bought the SG in late 2004 with the Gibson case. It has been used (literally) less than 20 hours. The guitar is in near-mint condition, and the case is mint. I'm looking for $650 for both.

New SG faded series are selling on Musician's Friend for $685 with a gigbag. Gibson cases run about $100.

Thanks!
