The fender Cyclone reminds me a lot of the 51.

Anyone else?

Who needs a signature?
I mean really...
It's almost always lyrics...
or a cliche...
or garbage about me...

well - I believe it's more the other way around - the 51 is probably made to remind you of all sorts of classical fender guitars - hence it has the body from a Mustang(?) and the headstock and controls from a tele. The cyclone is pretty much a new Mustang I think - so yes they bear resemblance

I believe the '51 is based off this:

I agree that the Cyclone is more of a Mustang sibling.

The Fender ST-75SH is much more of a Frankenguitar like the '51, but with a thinline Tele pickguard, H-S configuration (tele-style neck pup), strat body and neck:

Wow, that cyclone is only $399? Made in Mexico? It has 22 frets... nice!

Oh Great. Here you go again. This time, I'm staying away from guitar stores.

No :)

IMHO

Personally I dont know what all the fuss is about with the 51 I really wasnt that impressed , the necks
have a nice feel to them but the electrics are no better than the budget epiphoneys.
But Im a bit of a Matsumoku lover so it takes a lot for any budget line to impress me when there are some really excellent Matsus out there at bargain prices and although they will never become a real expensive collectors piece in my opinion niether will the 51 .

Dont give a shite about punctuation or spelling , I have to do that all day at work.
Free times for rocking !!

I would have to go with the Cyclone being more like a Mustang. Especially considering Fender makes a case for the Cyclones/Mustangs/Jag-stangs.

I agree with the pickguard comment. It is too big in my opinion.

The'51 "fuss" is really just about a dirt cheap guitar that plays fairly well. It doesn't feel like a $99 guitar in my hands. Anyway, for modding it is a great choice. For a main instrument? Probably not.

Ah, but it cuts down nicely.

By the way, Dali, if you search the '51 modders forum for posts by "lorirocks" you'll find a custom metallic pickguard she had made for her; I haven't had time to look for you in response to your post. But the company that did it can probably make an aluminum can version for your Guiness '51. 8)

Thanks Mitch. I looked it up. $65... I may have to look into something I make myself for $15 - 25. I would like to cut it down slightly, so we'll see. Thanks.

Also, when searching the site for pickguards ( http://www.sharp-concepts.com/ ) I noticed this guitar listed as a sample of the pickguards they sell:

I JUST BOUGHT THIS GUITAR ON EBAY!!!!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=012&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=220046431873&rd=1&rd=1

Should I be worried or suspicious??

Is that the craziest thing you have every seen!? Holy crap!

Just a BIZARRE coincidence, I'd think. The pictures on their website seem to be customer-submitted, given the different backgrounds, lighting, etc. You bought from one of their customers, who happened to use the same picture file in his ebay ad that he sent to them. Uhm, let's hope ...

Hey, I was thinking ( ), why don't you just make a Guiness pickguard using the stock pg? Keep the guitar body "as is" and put your labels on the PG, then clearcoat. Simple, effective, cheap!
